Sarah Fisher to make NASCAR debut ThatsRacin.com Report
Sarah Fisher, one of the most prominent female drivers in open-wheel racing, is expected to make her NASCAR debut on Oct. 3 when she competes in the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series race at Phoenix.
Fisher, in her fourth season in the Indy Racing League, will drive the No. 20 for BMR Racing as a teammate to Austin Cameron.
"I'm really excited to be making my NASCAR debut," Fisher, 23, said. "It's a great opportunity. I've been working hard to prepare for this."
Fisher, who progressed through the sprint car and midget car ranks to the IRL, was voted the league's most popular driver the past three seasons. She earned a career-best runner-up finish in the IRL IndyCar Series at Homestead-Miami in 2001 and won the pole at Kentucky in 2002.
anytime i flick over to an IRL race by chance, i do stop and check to see where she is.....how much of that is me liking her driving ability or how much is seeing how 'the girl' is doing ............i dont know, but i do pay attention to her in a sport that is just plain boring to me.
