NASCAR suspends Musgrave one race: NASCAR announced today that Ted Musgrave, driver of the #9 Toyota in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, has been suspended from competition until July 3, penalized 50 championship driver points, fined $10,000 and placed on probation until Dec. 31 for a rule violation he committed during the race at the Milwaukee Mile on June 22. Musgrave was found to be in violation of Section 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing; hitting another competitor's truck during a caution period) of the 2007 NASCAR rule book. In addition, Bob Germain, owner of the #9, has been penalized 50 championship truck owner points. The next race on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule is at Memphis Motorsports Park on Saturday.(NASCAR PR)(6-27-2007).
Brad Keselowski will drive the #9-Toyota while Musgrave serves a one-race suspension
I thought NASCAR's stance is that they didn't suspend drivers? I've seen plenty drivers do what Musgrave did at that race. I guess the rules are different then Cup?
Well, for the league's points.... anyone who picked Musgrave this week or has him for a segment driver will get Keselowski's points.
Kurt Busch didn't get sat down for a race.......this isn't fair.
Lou, if someone picks Musgrave as a Core driver, shouldn't they get -5 points? I can see if they chose him as a Segment driver but everyone should know that Musgrave isn't going to be in this week's race. just my thoughts.
Well.... I don't see why we would give negative points for a core driver but not a segment driver. This was just announced today... (I think) so some teams might not be able to change their picks in one day since I just changed the name on the form.
oh and by the way, this is in the rules in the Truck series.... although we haven't had to use it until now:
If a driver that appears on the entry list gets sick, injured or by some other circumstance can not race that weekend, you will get the points of the substitute driver that will drive the same truck. If the truck is not run at all that weekend (highly unlikely) you won't receive any points. In any case, if it happens before Qualifying, you have the option to trade your driver.
