This from the one who never complains..8

We all know that the only driver to complain are the 24 and 48...

So these quotes are most likely inacurate....

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. is still smarting from the penalty that knocked him out of first place in the NASCAR's Nextel Cup series for cursing during a live TV interview last weekend.

I just think the punishment was a little bit more severe than the crime

But I felt a little bit thrown under the bus and now I'm getting a little bit dragged out

change the penalty,'' he said. "Make it $100,000, $200,000. Taking points off the scoreboard, whether it's fair or not, is not something I believe in.''

<<< Now where was Jr speaking out when this happened to other drivers?>>>

Well any driver would complain if 25 points were taken from them while he was leading in points during the new chase format.

At least he has something valid to complain about.

Lets see, a blown engine or car trouble is not the drivers fault but if he complains, its whiney.

I am pretty sure it was not the engine builder or the crew chief or the rear tire carrier that cost Jr the pts, he can only blame himself. But when he  breaks a rule, a rule that he knows if he breaks it will cost him, its not whiney....

unbiased?  gimme a break

bottom line, whether you agree with how it went down or not, he's still ahead of the 24 and 48.

as far as him not whining....Hendricks boys could take a lesson from his post race interview .........when asked why he started to falter at the end and could only manage a third place finish (anyone else would have loved that finish, but he wasnt satisfied).........he just said that his crew wanted to adjust the wedge further and he overruled them......his mistake he said....all his fault he said.......not man oh man, woe is me.

Oh, and by the way... scary thought, but Jeff Gordon has the same views as I do.

From an article on Nascar.com

Smith: Jeff, we've seen all kinds of post-race fiascos this year, from Bottlegate to what happened with Dale Jr. We've not yet heard your opinion on NASCAR's decision. What are your thoughts on them taking 25 points away?

Gordon: I understand that there's definitely going to be some kind of penalty. I know that in the past they docked guys points in the Busch Series. I don't agree with the points. I really don't.

I think that should not take away from the effort that was happening on the racetrack. I do think that, what I feel like NASCAR's gotten themselves into is when we fine a guy it doesn't seem to affect them. It doesn't seem to stop it from happening. We want to stop these things from happening.

But that's because the fines are $10,000, $20,000. Make that fine $200,000, $250,000. I guarantee you 25 points is worth a lot of money to those guys at the end of the season. If they don't win this championship, it could be worth over $1 million, those 25 points.

So let's make the fine big and really get the attention. If we're going to do that, I think there are certain things that points need to be taken away on the racetrack with.

If it's altering your racecar or something like that, some kind of action you took on the racetrack, then maybe points should be taken away, but I don't necessarily agree with it for what happened.
