Dario Franchitti had his welcome-to-NASCAR moment this month while waiting to take his first laps in a stock car in Talladega, Ala. An official peered into his window and asked, "You speak English?"
Franchitti, the reigning IndyCar and Indy 500 champion, is a native of Scotland. He lives outside Nashville, Tenn., with wife and actress Ashley Judd, and yes, Franchitti is learning a new lingo as he transitions from open-wheel racing to NASCAR.
