This is promising...

Nationwide SeriesNASCAR officials are considering alterations to the point system for the Nationwide Series that would deny points for most, if not all, Sprint Cup drivers in 2009, several sources have told NASCAR Scene.

Beginning in 2009, drivers in the top 35 in the Sprint Cup standings would not be eligible to receive points in the Nationwide Series, under a proposal being considered by NASCAR.

NASCAR officials declined comment on the plan since it is under consideration. The sanctioning body, sources said, has also talked to teams in the series about other possible rules changes for 2009 in an attempt to differentiate itself from the Cup series.

its about time!  I do like the new logo as well!

Yes, I just wonder what they are going to do about the drivers that are on the bubble in NASCAR?   If they are in the top 35 one week, but not the next, are they not going to get points?

Just say they were going to start this in 2008....  David Reutimann is going to contend for the Nationwide title next year. He could be one of those drivers that are on the bubble like that.   I'm not sure if should be the top 35... maybe top 20 or so.

Yesh, I also like the new logo. Guess I'll have to change the colors in the league next year too.

That would be sweet. I still think Cup drivers will race alot, as it helps for Sunday. That's what needs to stop. Take away the money as well as points and they might be onto something. Of course though, the Memphis race only featured 3 or 4 Cup drivers and it was a demo derby.

they need the Cup drivers to draw attendance...but in recent years it has gotten out of hand....either way you slice it, this would be a positive move.
