Who will be the Nascar Champion???

I would like to hear what the league members have to say about who will win the Nextel Cup this weekend and why they think so.

I am going with Jeff Gordon, he is in striking distance of Busch, and Johnson and him are the only two close enough to pass Busch if he has a decent finish.  I will be rooting for Dale Jr. but I don't see him passing all three (Busch, Johnson and Gordon) in one race.  Jeff has been champion before and I think he will pull it off even if it means bumping the car he owns, Johnson, or anyone else out of his way to get the championship. When push comes to shove Gordon will win out.

LET'S GO RACING !!!!!!!

Well, you know who I want, but I don't think that's gonna happen. Atlanta and Martinsville killed him. And that 25 point deduction didn't help either. If he had finished well at Martinsville instead of getting tangled up with Carl Edwards, and he didn't shoot his mouth off in victory lane, he'd probably be either second or third in the standings. Oh well, no use crying over it now.

Out of the 3 top drivers, I'd rather see Busch get it because I dislike him least of all over Gordon and Johnson.

Who do I think is going to win? It's a toss-up between Gordon and Johnson. Both run well at Homestead. I guess I'll take Johnson, he seems to be the lesser of the two evils.

gimme a break.......i hate to hear someone say that Gordon will win because hes won before........that implies that he has something over the other three as far as knowledge...........and lets face it, all four have proven that they know how to go out and dominate a race.....it will really boil down to luck.

im pulling for Driver #8 of course, but i really think he has a shot at it.....he was one of the quickest in testing last week at Miami and he im sure is the hungriest of them all.

Busch really has no chance from my point of view......he has a slim lead and bad history at Homestead.

Johnson, well he by far has used up all his good luck........even Kenseth finished last year crappy despite a wonderful season.

so that brings it to Gordon and Jr.........and Viagra-Man if you believe in miracles.

Gordon has the best chance at it by way of odds in that hes close enough to strike and does pretty well at this track. But my heart says JR. and that persuades my head to make an argument for him.......

KEEP THE FAITH! JR WILL BE THE FIRST NEXTEL CHAMPION!

Gimme a break: It is simply a fact, Jeff Gordon does have the edge over the other drivers you mention as far as knowledge and experience( not counting Martin, he is too far back). He has multiple Nascar championships and many more Nascar races than these other drivers.  Whether you like Gordon or not he flat out has more experience, ie. knowledge.  Dale Jr. needs to finish at least 10 places ahead of three other drivers to win. This is not going to happen.

I agree with you to a point, I don't think Jr. will be able to do it but it's not because lack of experience. Jr. has as much knowledge and experience as any of the other drivers out there. It's come down to one race now, and whoever can run best at Homestead out of the top 3 drivers should take the trophy. What's come down to Jr. having a chance is luck. He can run his heart out at Homestead and even win the race, but if any of the drivers in front of him don't have problems, as Junior put it.... It don't mean sh**. Maybe one of the drivers might have problems that will put him in the back of the field. Two drivers having problems... thats pushing it. Three drivers.... thats a long shot at best. Not saying it's impossible, but the odds are stacked against him. Plus he needs to stay in front of Martin as well.

It's going to come down to either Busch, Johnson or Gordon at the end.

i never said the deck wasnt stacked against Jr.........just that i have faith he can pull it off.

as for the silly notion that Gordon has the experience and 'know-how' to finish better than the others? lets see Gordon has 5 wins.............thats right Jr. has 6. does that mean he has more experience at winning this year? no. like i said, the past is the past....all that matters is what happens on Sunday.

oh wait, J.J. has what? 8 wins? i guess we should just give him the trophy now hmm?
