What was NASCAR thinking?

Any time during the race, the caution is thrown for a spin. Mike Helton must have a dinner date at the local Burger KIng, so they chose to keep it green, tearing up several racecars. The last wreck didnt have to happen. Can you imagine what would happen if a driver was seriously hurt or killed because of that? That would be an easy lawsuit. The race at these tracks will continue to be boring....at least I can get a nap in.

07 Daytona 500, boyer is on his roof and no caution flag is thrown. Yet they throw one for a spring rubber on the side of the track mid race.  You cant tell me its not all about the sponsers and tv money, because i feel it is.

Remember when Harvick won the Daytona 500? wreck on the last lap.

When Bowyer flipped at Talladega?
When Sadler flipped at Talladega two years in a row?

Same thing happened in all five cases, race could finish under green because the finish line was before they would get all the way around the track to the spinning cars.....it's meant to give the race fans what they deserve...a proper finish...although didn't today's end under a Caution at the last second?

Either way, I feel like Nascar was at least consistent with what they have decided in the past and that is saying something in and of itself.

isnt it kind of like how the rest of life is in the fact that we dont make changes to something unless something bad happens...so yeh basically somebodys gonna have to get killed or beaten up pretty badly before anythings done about that situation...unfortunate but thats how it is

I truely loved yesterday race -- I didn't want to leave my chair at all -- NASCAR.com had the RACE View free this week-end and I toke evantage of that and had that on too. So, when they went to break I was watch & listing on that and of course I had Dale Jr on the radio.

The only problem I had with the race was that damn Kyle Busch, everyone was playing nice until he got into Jamie McMurray and then it simmed like all hell started. I mean sure the guy can drive and he is good but, damn. I guess I would have like to seen someone else win other then him. (LoL)

Overall I think this was the best race so far this year and personally I think it was the best race ever. Just my thoughts.

Guessing you have not been a NASCAR fan for long Wendal? I have been for over 40 years and what you saw at Talladega is not racing....watch Dale Jr's show...Back in the day...that was racing!!

John I've got to agree! Taladega and Daytona are very boring with the Car Of Today. Nascar MUST do something to bring excitement back. These races were on the calendar more many moons. Now well I just as soon go see the opera, or maybe a musical with the wife to get those honey-do's out of the way. I think y'all know what I'm saying. The COT is losing many fans. Stay tuned Busch people, if this keeps up I will have no reason to "fantasy race".

Opps, I wrote way to much there at the end. LoL

It was the best RACE this year -- not of all time I should have read 3 times instead of two before posting it. (LoL)

Whatever...best race of this year? Wow...no disrespect Wendal but we all have come to expect more from Dega and Daytona. This race really blew, nowhere near a good race at all. Atlanta was even boring. This car of whenevr sucks and there is no more anything. The most boring racing in Na$car I've EVER witnissed in 35 years. This is not racin. I'm not sure what it is. Oh yeah...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Well, I guess we all have our thoughts on Yesterday Race and that great. Tho, when they could take two cars go 205 or 206 down the staight away and was able to catch the front draft I thought that was something else.

I agree that the COT has been boring this year and it has put a person to sleep -- I just thought I didn't want to leave my seat yesterday so, to me that made it the best race so far this year.

guys, I have got to disagree with you all..........I like these races.......for the most part, the races have been more competitive.......more passing up front and through the field......there are quirks to it and some drivers don't like it.......but that's because it doesn't fit their style.

This car by far puts more emphasis on driver ability in my opinion........hmmm, when else was it like that? oh yeh, with all those heavy ass cars in the seventies it was like that!

That's my opinion........before you quickly disagree, at the next race, pay attention to how many passes occur.....both in front and back..........there really is good racing out there right now.

oh, almost forgot, I really wasn't commenting on Talladega, didn't any but the very end ....was at my son's birthday party.  I was more or less talking about all the races leading up to then.

personally i have to agree with tooz a bit and wendal . i think the cars do put more emphasis on strategy and driver skill because they appear to be fairly equal . at times it appears the drivers are sitting back waiting til the end of the race before they even attempt to race , im not sure the car can be blamed for that . as for dega , how in the hell was it not exciting seeing two cars hook up and blow by everyone just like the good ole days ? have we forgotten why they put restrictor plates on the big tracks ? if that didnt make your pants moist then im afraid youve never driven a car over a 100 miles an hour because that made an otherwise boring race exciting . i was worried when jr pushed menard out front that one time the poor kid was gonna lose his nerve and pull a kyle petty . im afraid i missed the end but busch is reckless and will trade paint with anyone creating havoc at any given time . i think rowdy would crash a supermarket buggy into you just to get his beer on the counter in the express lane

I agree its good to see two cars passing. But then those two cars would just pass them back. There are no breakaways..think I saw a 1 second lead once...wow 1 second!!! and yes I have driven cars over 100 mph, and never wet my pants. When you get in a car, and just hold the gas pedal down all the way around...is that really racing?

I think its more than holding the pedal down. Think of all the quick reactions and split second decisions that come with it that don't necc. come up during a Kansas race.

Stewart said it best, most races, you play checkers, Plate races, you play Chess......at 200 mph.

i agree with speedy and jg4tmr these races have been boring even when jeffy is running good which annt been much lately! the only thing i liked about the dega race was watching those 2 car drafts running high and leaving the field! the COT really sux!  you dont drive your way past you bang and beat past only to be passed back! i want the car of yesterday!
