Sorry for your luck. We've had 5 in th metro area this year ourselves. Think we've had 5 total since 1979 till now. Hope your friends and families are OK. I might even get to stay home today. (knock on wood)

Kansas Hit by More Than 80 Reported Tornadoes in Less Than a Week
Twisters almost hit more than a dozen cities
Wed 11:39 AM 5/28/08
By Associated Press

Nearly 90 tornadoes were reported in Kansas as of Monday, in a rough weather week that also included storms with large hail and record rainfall.

Larry Ruthi is the meteorologist in charge of the Dodge City branch of the National Weather Service. He said that on Friday evening, there were five large tornadoes on the ground at the same time, an event he called ``pretty amazing.''

Officials said four people are believed to have died and several more were reported injured in the storms.

Preliminary data from NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Storm Prediction Center, shows 87 tornadoes in Kansas on Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
While WaKeeney and Protection both reported damage from tornadoes, meteorologists said twisters almost hit more than a dozen other cities, including Greensburg.

Last night was trying. first we had hail up to 4" in diameter...can you say broken windshields? Actually the only damage i had was my patio table. quarter inch glass was shattered. the same storm dropped a twister damaging 2 businesses and destroying 9 houses here. The storm moved into the next county hitting a small town and damaging or destroying 80% of the town. The next target was Kansas State University (where my daughter attends) Several buildings on campus were damaged..estimates of 20 million dollars damage. Now my other daughter is under a tornado warning in another part of Kansas right now so guess I better get the radar up and check this one out so I can call her and tell her whats happening. I have 2 sisters in Montana who had nearly a half foot of snow...in JUNE!! Something tells me this Global warming crap..is just that!!
