Everyone keeps comparing this year's Celtics-Lakers matchup to those in the 80's. They do not even come close. I bet some of you could name 8 or 9 of those 10 starters in the 80's and cannot name more than 7 on this year's teams.
Lets see. LA. Kareem,magic,coop,big game james, nixon, rambis as 6th man,byron scott. Boston. bird, parrish, McHale,D.J.,ainge. I hope that was good enough. These guys played when a team could drop a 40 on u in 1 quarter nightly!! not struggle to do it in a half like todays NBA!! PS. and i didn't cheat promis. 30 year laker fan is all
So true Marty! Basketball is nothing compared to past teams. A lot of that is due to expansion of the league. More is not always better especially in team sports. The pool of players only has so many great players and they get spread a bit thin now.
