Lucky Dog Racing's 2009 LROC lineup

With the 2008 season coming to a close and the champions decided, we now know who will be racing in the LROC series next season. There were some changes in the final races, so here is the un-official lineup. It will be official once the drivers accept their invitation.

1. Troy Wiggins: Cup Series Champion - Troy makes his return to the series after racing in the 2007 season. Troy went in as the cup champion that year since the real champion as inelligible. Now Troy goes in as the real champ!

2. Dean Higley: Nationwide Series Champion - Two straight Nationwide titles means two straight LROC appearances. Of course Dean also goes in as the defending LROC champion as well so he'll have an extra large target on his back!

3. Lou Demian: Truck Series Champion - Lou makes his third appearance in the series and 2nd in a row. He went in the first season just as a team owner, went in this year as the Streak to the Finish Champion. This year he goes in as Truck Champion and Lucky Dog member to make the most appearances. This past season he finished 5th.

4. Stephen DiCaprio: Streak to the Finish Champion - Stephen wins the streak to the finish this year and will make the LROC series for the 2nd year in a row. Stephen finished down in 17th place in the standings and will be looking for some redemption this season.

5. Gary Wheat: Chaser Eraser Champion - Pulled off a surprise win in the Chaser Eraser in the final race of the year over Nathan Helton. This will mark Gary's first appearance in the LROC series.

6. Joe Hicks: Yahoo Group Champion - Also pulled off a surprise performance to overtake Bob Thomas in the Yahoo group in the final race. This will also mark Joe's first appearance as well.

Two rookies in the LROC series for 2009, should be interesting. Hopefully this lineup will be able to finally get Lucky Dog Racing that elusive LROC title, we'll see.

Stay tuned for lineups from FASCAR and the 2 time league winner, P10 Select.

I know this was brought up before about the LROC Series format, I was wondering are we going to be looking at a new format or keeping what we have. Personally, I think after we got through those 1st few races it was better and more fun.

But, on a personal note I would like to see a full season of the LROC Series I think that would really make it more fun and be more of a challage for all of us. Just something to think about because with only 12 races it got kind of boring. You almost forgot about it.

Running an entire season might be too much on me, It depends on how many weekends there are with the three series running.  I mentioned awhile back that we could break the year up into segments. It might work better than just having 1 game every month or 2.

I'll let you work on the schedule during the off-season sometime. Once we figure out how many races there are, we'll take it from there.

I really think the format worked well but we could at least look into adding more drivers to the Nationwide groups, maybe a few more to the Cup groups as well.

I just wanted to take this time to say thanks to Lou for making sure that everyone has a chance to play in the LROC Series.....all they have to do is show up and play and win.
I liken it to the college football scenario........only the best teams will play and not who majority THINKS should play.

Also, this may be the reason LD hasn't come away with the title eventhough they had high caliber racers every year. Other leagues may or may not have a leg up playing in it everyyear, but I wouldn't have it any other way for my money.

Keep letting only the Champions race Lou!

Thanks... yes, I believe rewarding the drivers from the previous season and letting others play in this league. Each league in LROC chooses their own lineup that works for them, but I believe LDR gives everyone the most fair shot to get in.

I am glad that works for LDR. However, not all leagues have 6 different categories to choose from. It is up to each league President how he chooses to select members. I am not sure if these coments are directed towards P-10 Select or not, but the decision is that of the league president. Now if Lou had specific guidelines as to who could participate, then it may change. So I guess what I am saying is...there is no wrong or better way to select those who play. Lou, Wendal, and Steve are all right in their decisions.

now.....hurry up February!!

Well, I'll say this.... The series was orginally designed to allow the 6 best drivers from the previous season to participate in the series. It was designed after IROC that selected the champions from 6 different series.

In the first year, both leagues had a set of qualifications to select their drivers.
When P10 Select came aboard the following year, we never set a qualifying process for their drivers, the same was of FASCAR the following year. Wendal took his 6 best drivers that finished in the standings the previous year, and I thought that would be the way again this year.

Yes, maybe the three owners should look into developing a qualifying method to allow other members the chance to get to play in this great series.

Right now there is none, so what the other owners did is not against the rules, so they are not wrong in picking their teams.

I just think its a shame that other drivers don't get a shot to be called up. I know if I was an elligble member in the other leagues and I finished towards the top of the standings, I would be upset that I didn't get called up.

I guess I can see why P10 Select Racing has taken back the 6 drivers each year -- why break up a championship team if you dont have too.

As for the FASCAR Racing Team, there wasnt anything stating if you won the FTCS Championship, Dash Championship or Rookie of the Year that you would be on the FASCAR Racing Team. So, there isnt any reason for a driver to be upset.

My comments were taken the wrong way.

I realize each league picks their own way of selecting drivers. That is part of the appeal of the series. I don't think all three leagues should select their drivers the exact same way......each league needs to be unique. Wendal's idea of voting the sixth driver in is an awesome idea as well as something different.

All I was trying to say was that Lou has a great way of selecting his participants that I personally think is the best way plus I wanted to thank him for it.

Positive remarks towards LD doesn't mean negative thoughts towards the other two leagues. Without all of them, there would be no LROC Series!

Has there been any discussion of the format for the upcoming year? I think the amount of races is fine....just wish there wasnt 4-5 weeks between races. With just over 30 days til the season starts..maybe its time we start discussing this.

Last week myself, lou and steve discussion the 2009 LROC Series Schedule and came up with 18 races for the 2009 LROC Series Season.

There is actually 18 races that all 3 NASCAR Series races on the same week-end. But, with that said there was one little problem at the start of the season there would be a two month gap between Race 2 & Race 3 so, we agreed that for one race during the season we would run Race 3 a little different and that is on March 21st-22nd the Nationwide & Cup Series will run at the Bristol Motor Speedway and then the next week-end March 28th the Truck Series runs in Martinsville Speedway. Then this would take out the Fall Bristol Race. Here is the schedule that I sent to both Lou & Steve. http://ultimatefantasyleagues.com/LROC/Schedule-2009.html

Also, I believe that the format will be the same except there will be more drivers to pick from in the Cup & Nationwide part of it. Lou, you can tell us more on that. (LoL)

Yep, I'll be getting the schedule on the site soon.

As for the format, it will be basicly the same except we'll have 10 drivers in each group. So we'll have the top 30 drivers in cup to choose from, the op 20 in the Nationwide series and the Truck series will remain the top 10.
