So, who has anything to say about their league performance so far in the first 3 races? Well I'm gonna break down the top 10 drivers as we head into Atlanta this weekend.
The Top 10
1st - High Octane: Took off like a bat out of hell in the first 2 races of the season. 2 straight wins but faltered a bit in the 3rd race. His superstar picks helped him a lot in the first 2 races, but his pick of Carl Edwards who finished in 14th place, didnt give him much. He now only holds on by one point. One wonders if he'll use up all his good superstar picks in the first half of the season. If he does, it could mean a freefall.
2nd - Gasitnpasit: Good runs in all 3 races, 2nd, 8th and 11th. However, 3 elite superstar picks were used in all 3. 5 drivers finished below 26th place in the three races. He also might follow the path of High Octane.
3rd - CrazyAboutRusty2: Missed the picks deadline for Vegas and received his first provisional. Luckily enough, didnt finish too poorly. Obviously relies on Rusty Wallace in his picks. Luckily or him Rusty is doing well so far. However, if Rusty starts to drop, CrazyAboutRusty2 will also.
4th - Jerry Jones Racing: Not afraid to let his opinions be known, thats for sure. Has had the most steady runs in the top 10. Three solid top 10 finishes without using any good superstar picks. As long as Johnson and Gordon continue to do well, Jerry Jones should find himself back on top of the standings in a week or two.
5th - Suezbele Racing, Inc.: Joined in the second half of last year. Struggled in the beginning but really picked it up in the end, scoring 4 top 5's in the last 5 races. This year, has scored 2 top 10's and a 16th place finish. Had a good solid run in Vegas. Didn't use a superstar pick last weekend and finished 5th. Should be in the top 10 for most of the year.
6th - Miller MotorSports: Runs his own NASCAR league, so definately has experience. So far as 2 top 10 finishes and an 18th place run. Already used up Gordon, Johnson and Biffle in superstar picks. Has 5 drivers that finished below 25 in the first 2 races, but noboby below 14th place in Vegas. Looks like it could be feast or famine.
7th - Big Country MotorSports: Joined last year after the 7th race in and struggled most of the year until the last 6 races where he rang off 5 top 10's. He started with a top 10 in Daytona, had a bad run in California but came back with avengence in Vegas, winning it all. Only used one superstar pick so far. He also looks like he might be hanging around the top 10 and making his sister jealous!
8th - Intimidator Racing: One of only 2 teams in the top 10 without a top 10 finish. The President's team has finished just outside the top 10 in the first 2 races, finishing 12th and 11th. Vegas was a 17th place finish. Hasn't received much from his 3 superstar picks, but Kenseth was the only quality driver used so far. Needs to avoid the low finishing drivers to remain in the top 10, as he has 6 finishing 26th or lower in the first 3 races.
9th - Fast Eddie Racing: Has one top 10 finish, finishing 9th in Vegas. His other 2 runs were 21st in Daytona and 14th in California. Only has 2 drivers finishing 40 and 43rd in the first 3 races. He might be making some moves further up into the top 10 soon.
10th - Dodge Boys Racing: A top 10 team last season, and in the top 5 for picks average as well. He's similar to Intimidator Racing. Doesn't have a top 10 yet, but has been finishing just outside with 11th and 12th place finishes in 2 races. Also needs to avoid low finishing drivers as he has 5 finishing 29th or lower in the first three races.
Outside looking in:
Zipperhead Racing: 3rd place finish last week but finished 23rd and 25th in the first 2 races. Another good finish should put him in the top 10.
Shawnda's Redneck Racing: Keeping the family rivalry going... eager to join her brother, Big Country MotorSports in the top 10. Only used one superstar pick so far and had her first 10 top this season in Vegas.
Pappy's Drivers: Missed his picks for California, but his picks that brought him a 40th place finish in Daytona, gave him a top 10 in California. A good 4th place run in Vegas is starting to turn some heads. Could be making some moves shortly.
Bump And Go Racing: A top 5 and top 15 in the last 2 races pushed him 19 spots after his 33rd place run in Daytona. A top 10 team least year, Bump and Go Racing should be moving back in again in a few weeks.

Very Very nice.....I'm thrilled to be in the top 15 at this point. Still early in the season, I like the way Busch has started off strong and not have the championship hangover. I feel bad for Kasey, looks like the sophmore jinx has gotten a hold of him big time. That new dodge charger hasn't worked out either for him. They should of went with the magnum wagon instead. Jimmie&Jeff look really strong this early. JR? Well JR will be back for sure maybe this whole new crew chief thing still has to get the bugs out. Or, maybe someone switch his beer to that awful world select.
I like the season on Fox much better than NBC. Love the ten questions segment where so far every driver has bashed Chris Myers.
i too liked this topic, but i think you should have listed the top three disappointments so far.
i think i would have topped that list and understandably so, but im taking a Kenseth/Busch type attack on the championship.........start slow, make steady progress and then light it on fire when the Chase begins........of course this plan won't work out if i dont get into the Chase.
bright spot? i did gain six spots last week with the 16th place Vegas showing.
Good job. Now I know how the drivers that crash in the 500 feel. Its like climbing out of a dark pit. With a bit of luck Ill get back in the chase. I must be despreat I picked Gordon. Don't tell my wife
I agree with Tooz. List the top 3 disappointments, that would at least give me something that I have a shot at winning....I'm beaten, battered, and bruised already
