LROC Series in development for 2006

Just wanted to give a little preview of a new elite series that is in development for 2006. The series will be based on the IROC Series. For those that aren't too familiar with the IROC Series, it is comprised of 4 races and 12 invited drivers.

From The IROC Series site:

The premise, conceived in 1973, is amazingly simple yet effective: Take 12 of the world's top drivers, from different types of racing, put them in identically prepared IROC race cars, give them a set of rules which virtually eliminates the variables usually associated with racing (no pit stops, no qualifying, no driver set-up of the cars, etc.) and wave a green flag at them.

The list of IROC champions speaks for itself: Mark Donohue, Bobby Unser, A. J. Foyt, Al Unser, Mario Andretti, Bobby Allison, Cale Yarborough, Harry Gant, Al Unser Jr., Geoff Bodine, Terry Labonte, Dale Earnhardt, Rusty Wallace, Ricky Rudd, Davey Allison, Mark Martin, Bobby Labonte and Kevin Harvick.

So, like the IROC series, members will be able to compete by invite only. It will be called the LROC Series. League Race of Champions. This series will be a joint effort of Lucky Dog Racing and another NASCAR league run by Greg Miller of MillerSports, the NASCAR Cool Pool. Lucky Dog Racing will host the series though.

Only The top 5 finishing teams from each series will be invited to partake in it. Also included will be both of the league owners for a total of 12 teams. If either the President or Greg finishes in the top 5 of their own league, the 6th place team will be invited to join. If any of the invited teams doesn't wish to partake in it, the next highest team will be asked. The league will be free, too.

It's possible another league might join in, so if thats the case, 6 more teams would be in it for a total of 18.

4 Races for the best of each league. Each team will be racing for their league's pride and the chance to have the title of best of the best.

so in this LROC series, if invited, you would pick the winners in the IROC races?

at this rate of expansion, i forsee LuckyDog Racing overtaking the National Fantasy Racing in five years.

just so long as you never start up an IRL or F1 fantasy site, i'd rather see a monster truck fantasy site.......lol.

If it is truly a race of champions, the previous yrs league champion should automatically qualify....

It's going to be set up to have the top 5 teams along with the President (Since I'm making and running it). Down the road if we have all the past champions in it, there won't be any room for additional players to get a chance to join. With the way you are going now, I'm sure you'll be in it anyway. If not as champion, than one of the top 5.

And no, I don't really watch IRL or F1 so I'd never start a site for that. This would be the last series for all the racing that I watch. I occasionally will watch some of an f1 race, but thats only if there is nothing else on.

The more that I think about it, the more I know that it should be done like this. If this new league was just for Lucky Dog Racing, I'd let all past champions partake in it each year, but this is going across 2 or more leagues. The Cool Pool is only a year older than we are, but if we get some other older leagues in the future, who have 5 or 6 champions, then we would have to invite 5 or 5 additional guys from our leagues, and before you know it, we'll have 50+ guys in the field. That's why I think it's much better to leave it as it is, 6 cars from each league.

I am not saying ALL past champs, it should  be the top 3 of the current yr, the previous yrs champ and the prez....The field would be stronger with a past champ than a guy who finished 5th.
