just curious what people think of the new truck rule where they can only pick fuel or tires on pit stops. i'm still kinda up in the air about it...i know it is supposed to save the teams money & i guess thats the main concern for now. i guess it does make the race alittle more interesting to see the stratagies that play out. just curious what everyone else thinks
I'm still a little confused over it, as a lot of the drivers are too I'm sure. The trucks were making 2 pit stops at a time at Daytona, so I'm not sure how it saves money.
Most of the trucks made 2 stops anyway. I wonder about the safety aspect of it. Pit row is dangerous enough, and now they are making 2 pit-stops instead of one, there-fore increasing the danger. Maybe it will have an effect on the smaller tracks...we'll just have to see.

speaking of pit road safety...when Speed Channel aired the highlights of the '79 Daytona 500 last week, it was funny to see Yarborough blazing out of the pits about 80 mph.
think about Daytona is 2.5 miles around . they had time for two stops . at a smaller track they will have to decide fuel or tires thus adding the competition factor . the money saving aspect is that each team is only allowed 12 crew members 5 of which can go over the wall . adds up to cost savings . i think its gonna make for fun twist later down the road !
