Let me get this straight. Leffler gets 5 lap penalty for wrecking Steve Wallace and Dale Jr gets nothing for intentionally wrecking Vickers and thus another 8 cars?? Gotta love NA$CAR and their consistency. Wouldn't want JR Nation to litter the track with trash and turn off the tv.
I was fullly expecting Jr. to get penalized for that, I was very surprised that he didn't. I can fault both Vickers and Jr. for that accident, but more so on Jr. He's been off all day long because of his pit stop mishaps.
Another NASCAR blunder.........wow I have one question....why do they wait til mid-afternoon to start these races? Had they started around 1:00 pm local time...they would have finished it. I think its time for Helton and France to go....

Pitting on the line penalty was excessive, but a rule is a rule no matter who you are.....even if it might seem extreme. Does anyone know if the penalty for that is concrete or under the discretion of the Nascar Official? I don't.
As far as the wreck, come on guys, turnabout is fairplay.......I didn't like it when Vickers did it to the 48 and 8 a couple of years ago at Talladega, but as I said then, racin' is racin. Kinda funny that Brian doesn't see it that way when the shoe is on the other foot.
As far as wrecking the field, well, I'm not going to lie, it only helped me here in LuckyDog since I did not pick the 18, 2, 48 and so on. Not to mention, I had the 17 and 29.
yes that penalty is concrete...Jr should have cranked the wheel and put that front tire in the box. The only tire that can be out is the left rear. I thought JR could have prevented the wreck, but he chose otherwise. I am more pissed that the race was called so quickly, because the rain has stopped at Daytona....and I can remember watching the Summer race close to midnight..many times....so why call it so quick and deny 200,000 fans their and those of us at home the opportunity to watch it til the end.

not disputing the error, was wondering about the penalty itself.
they claim that the track wouldn't be dry until 11:00pm local time meaning four more hours of waiting....could be getting the "Cat in the Hat" his first Daytona 500 victory some incentive?
That plus, afraid that it was going to be a crash fest if they let the drivers back out there with those tempers.
lol dry until 11:00 pm huh? All they talked about pre-race was Daytona had a fleet of jet dryers and with the banking there..the track would have dried much quicker....but enough of that...on to California!!
