for those of you that didn't hear it on the broadcast today, it was announced that Ganassi and Marlin reached an understanding a couple of weeks ago that they would not renew their relationship at years end.
either David Stremme or Reed Sorenson are the early contenders for that spot.
I actually read about that on Jayski's site a few days ago.
I haven't heard any possible replacements until today. Actually what they said would probably happen is that Jamie McMurray would switch to the #40 car and Possibly Reed Sorenson or David Stremme would go to the #42 car.
Nascar Victory Lane, on Speed Channel, was who reported that it would most likely be Stremme...............McMurray still badly wants out of Ganassi.....both for personal and professional reasons, he wants in the #2 car.
I have the upmost respect for Coo-Coo, but nobody will miss Sterlin. Nothing against him but what has he ever done. Time for new blood for sure. Just business.

More on Marlin, Stremme and Sorenson: Sterling Marlin, says the team owner won't call him back about the status of Marlin's #40 car next season. "My contract is up after this year," Marlin says. "I guess you've got to make a change sometimes, but I'd like to know something soon so I can start looking." Marlin says a team was willing to buy out his contract last year, but he remained loyal to Ganassi. Multiple sources at Ganassi say Busch Series regular David Stremme will get the ride over Reed Sorenson because Sorenson is under 21 and the car's sponsor is Coors Light.(FoxSports/Sporting News)(4-13-2005)
Maybe it would be a good idea to keep Sorenson in the Busch series another year for more experience. Bring him up in 2007. That's what DEI is doing with Truex. Two full years in the Busch series. No sense bringing someone up who is not ready and hurting their career. That's what happened to Casey Atwood.
Stremme was on Nascar Nation tonight and he was asked about the #40 car, then, he responded "i dont know, you have to talk to Chip (Ganassi) or Felix (Sabates) about that, i dont know anything, im just trying to concentrate on this year and the Navy car"
