Cut To The Chase

All the teams this season by virtue of strategy, luck, and stat smarts try to get there team in position to make it to the Chase. I think the Superstar picks should be eliminated just for the Chase and the final Ten races. The points will be adjusted anyway so it doesnt matter how far you were ahead of other teams. Lets take the superstar pick out of the Chase and leave it up to Team smarts and luck!

no, they should not be taken out.....this really was a question for pre-season. its all about strategy of when to use them and when not to.

you have teams using alot of good drivers early in the year to cement their position in the top ten to be around at the Chase. But you also have teams who try not to use their best drivers until the Chase. These teams are banking on the idea that their other picks will be solid enough throughout the year to keep them in contention and thus they will be able to make big gains once the Chase has started.

whether this rule falls or not after this year is something to be talked about then if the President chooses, but you cant readjust the rules in mid-season to suit some teams while others pay a cost for it.

I agree with StormKeeper. The scoring system is definitely different than anywhere. I've played but thats cool. Same rules for everyone. But 10 races and have to qualify to get in, run it straight up, no gimmicks. I can't make it this year, but plan on being in it next year. ( Missed 8-9 races at beginning) Just my 2 cents.

Actually during pre season I did bring up the idea of only using superstars during the regular season, and not during the chase. However, I was voted down on it. So it would be out of the question to eliminate them during the middle of the season. Many teams are using their strategy of saving their good picks until the chase.

We will see what happens with the superstar picks during the chase and vote what happens with them next year.

Oh, and in regards to the 3rd statement in your poll..... Nobody has been eliminated from the chase yet, there are just many teams currently out of contention for it. That doesn't mean they can't get back in. They better start praying for some bad luck by Pappy's Drivers!

This includes you High Octane, ALL 4 of your wins are due to the Superstar Driver.

High Octane and I did discuss this before.......certain people realized they may have used up all their potential already and are starting to sweat. you made your bed, lie in it.

as for the top ten using up all their good drivers already, yeh most of them have....including High Octane......he's still got the big dogs, but used quality guys alot as well.....let's see how long this streaky player can hang on......lol

I, personally haven't shown anyone anything yet for them to fear me so i'm sure no one is sweating me....but be warned....i really haven't used that many good ones (none in the current top ten, i believe) so like a few others, my goal is the championship at the end of the year....i like wins just as much as anyone, but i want the gold man!

Well my latest finish is my worst yet... would have been better if Busch didn't crash on the first lap, and his brother didn't cut that tire, but I digress.

I haven't used anyone in the top 10 as my superstar either. Kevin Harvick and Matt Kenseth have been my biggest picks so far. I've noticed a number of teams have blindly used a lot of good superstar picks and yeah, they are starting to realize that they are starting to run low on the good ones and could be in trouble. We haven't even good halfway through the season yet.

I planned what picks I'll be using for each race of the season. I'll change them every so often, but my chase ones are pretty well set.

However it's also luck of the draw. Just because you have a lot of good picks left, doesn't mean they are always gonna pan out for you. I've seen a number of teams pick big name drivers and they haven't gotten any points from them.

The key will be who can get the most points out of their superstar picks each week even when they pick a so-so driver.

I agree with Tooz, Personally I've been intentionally saving most of my A class drivers for the final surge to ge into the chase or for the chase.  Taking them away now, when some teams have burnt up a good share of them wouldn't be real fair.  Some of us obviously have looked further down the line with our picks then from just race to race.  I say if we do away with the All-stars for the Chase next year we dump the policy completely.  I didn't go through each team driver by driver this week, but I know that all 5 of mine were in the top 11 and I finished 15th.  So I wouldn't have a problem with dropping them completely.

Once again I have to give Darlington a big two thumbs up, green flag, five stars or whatever they want for this weekend the Race was great.  Plus they sold out, which I believe NASCAR expected them to fail to do by giving them a bad weekend.
