I think Lou posted about this race and how so many teams picked the same drivers. With the groups the way they are its most likely alot of people will pick the same drivers this late in the season. Theres 2 drivers in the Chevy group that everyone picks every race(Ron H. Matt C.), Theres 2 drivers in the Ford group that everyone picks(Colin B. Rick C.), Then theres the Toyota Group (if hes in the race Kyle B. Mike S. "maybe Todd B. maybe"), and The rest of the field, this is where you see most of your different picks (everybody takes the Cup driver if there is one or Dennis S. Tayler M.) If you had 5 Chevy drivers in the top 5 in the points and winning races then you would see alot of the teams picking different drivers. If you have 2 drivers in a group that consistently beats the rest of the group or "wins 5 in a row" you would be crazy to go with anyone else. Makes it tough for fantasy teams that are way behind to make a run at the top. The Segment driver throws another hook in it because if you got Ron H. as your segment driver then everyone knows who your Chevy driver will be way before you submit. The 2 teams Im battling with right now has Mike S. as their Segment driver, so if Kyle is in the race then I know who their Toyota picks will be, if Kyle is not in the race then they take my Segment driver Brian S. at the same time if Kyle is not in the race I take their segment driver Mike S. because I cant afford to gamble on a Ikler or Bodine this late in the season. What makes it tough is if you have the same picks as 10 teams and you all have the same Segment driver and your way down in the points like 15th or 16th, you can have the winning set of picks and finish 11th and thats tough to take but it happens all the time. Sorry about the rant
Well we may look into changing the format for the Truck picks next year. I don't think the manufacturer groups are working well any more. I think we will look into changing it to the owners standings much like like the Nationwide series is set up.

I agree also, but I hope we can keep the segment driver. I like this feature and would rather have this in the NNW Series as well in place of the claim jumper, one thing I dont like about the claim jumper is teams having more drivers then others during a race, and Im talking more about new teams joining in the second half of the year. Everybody wants to win races and its tough to win even when everybody has the same amount of drivers. Just a thought
Yeah, we would still keep the segment driver in the Truck series.
I'd like to keep the claim jumper in the Nationwide series as well, I'd like each league to have a feature that the other one doesn't.
One of the strategies of the claim jumper is to try and conserve them and plan one to use them..... Yes in one race it may be a little tough to win if you choose not to use a bonus driver but then that also gives you an advantage in a future race.

Im talking more about new teams joining in the second half of the year. The last 3 races were won by Rookies (Nothing wrong with Rookies winning) 2 of them have 3 starts and a full slate of Cup drivers to use the rest of the year. I know your going to say save them till the end of the year but I cant see dropping to 20th or 30th in the points trying to save drivers till the end of the year. You race for the championship and right now the separation from 1st to 20th in the points is 806 points, dont see any gain in saving drivers when the other teams are pulling away every week getting out of reach. We have a separate points system for Rookies so other teams do not effect the outcome. But Rookies are effecting the outcome for the other teams by having more drivers in the last 9 or 10 races. I know you really like this feature but I feel it needs a change. You could have the Claim Jumper bonus, but make it any driver in the field and you still could only use a driver once, and this way everyone would field the same amount of drivers every race.
Well it's something that can be discussed during the off-season I suppose. Of course it we allowed every driver to be used, it wouldn't be called a claim jumper bonus anymore.
Speaking as a rookie in the NNS right now. It has the same effect on all the full year drivers. So if I win this week because I have a claim jumper it moves all the full time racers back one spot. Yes you may not have a shot at gaining 15 points by winning but the same thing occurs everytime in NASCAR when a ringer who does not run Nationwide or Truck shows up and runs. Thats just part of racing, I of course will complain next year when I don't have the claim jumpers saved for the end of the year and I need to make up points.
I just really like the similarity with the competitors on the track and those of us in Lucky Dog.
BTW I think something needs to be done in the truck series as well, since I was out of the championship run I picked regular drivers hoping for Harvick and Busch to wreck. It does get boring seeing the same picks week after week.
Remember this is just my 2 cents and you can ignore it.

Never, if everyone came in here and gave their 2 cents we would have a better understanding on what the majority of members want. I give my 2 cents and then some on different things, some times it helps a situation some times I make things worse. But I still want to get involved, so keep throwing your 2 cents in someone is listening.
i have to agree with Nathan on the claimjumpers . maybe it can be set up in segments where if someone new comes in they are alotted a certain amount of drivers but i def agree it does take something away from their win that they can use a class one driver that most of us no longer have access to . that could easily be a 100 point or more advantage . or even if say a team came in after halfway mark they couldnt use a class one driver as claimjumper ? do think they have major advantage over most of field ! limiting top classifications to top 5 drivers instead of 6 would go a long ways towards making teams more competitive as well in my opinion i too would like to see classifications different in truck series but not at expense of losing segment drivers which seems to be my only strong suit in this league . there are def more toyota drivers to pick from but only two each in both Ford and chevy camps. no matter what i enjoy competing with everyone here across the board. i hope to one day get up to cup series but think it says a lot that most of us compete against one another in several different leagues with very little drama as of late. im proud to be a part of lucky dog and def agree with Tooz it is the premiere league in fantasy . cant believe i didnt join first time he invited me several years ago !
Thanks Leon, we are glad to have you here as well!
As for the Nationwide claim jumper situation..... That certainly is a situation that I knew provided an unfair balance in the race between members who raced all season long and others who had joined the league midway. At the same rate, I didn't think it was a huge issue because those members really couldn't gain much in season points. They were going to finish at the bottom of the standings no matter what.
I figured, sure they might get a few easy wins under their belt, make them feel good about starting the next full season. Then they would have a rude awakening when they would be on equal ground with everyone else, lol.
Their good finishes wouldn't factor into everyone else who was racing for standings points.
Right now I'm not sure what a good solution is.... I really don't want to allow every driver that races in the Nationwide series to be used as a bonus driver.
I suppose we could possibly disallow members that start with say.... 25% of the season left to use all claim jumpers. Maybe just allow them to use drivers that haven't made that many starts in the season so far... like Martin Truex Jr. and Ryan Newman this weekend. Just an idea.
I've been brian storming on this one -- I like the Claim Jumper but had and idea to allow us all to be on the same playing ground each week.
Maybe a solution would be we kind of do a Segment Nationwide Claim Jumpers it wouldnt be a Segment Driver.
Say Run 7 Different Segments of 5 Races. We only could use a driver once during a Segment but, would be allowed to pick a same driver in another segment.
Example: Segment 1 Race 1: Kyle Busch Race 2: Carl Edwards Race 3: Martin Truex Jr. Race 4: Dale Jr. Race 5: Kevin Harvick
Example: Segment 2 Race 1: Ryan Newman Race 2: Kyle Busch Race 3: Dale Jr. Race 4: Kevin Harvick Race 5: Greg Biffle
So, if a NEW Driver Would come along say in Race 3 of Segment 2 we would all be on the same playing ground. Just and Idea
Well, that's an idea, thanks. It's not the same as the Truck segment driver where you can't change it until the next segment, so it's something different.
Its something to look at for next year, one idea anyway.
