The troubled career of Shane Hmiel took another downward turn on Thursday when the Busch Series driver was suspended for the second time by NASCAR for violating the sanctioning body's substance abuse policy.
NASCAR officials said Thursday that Hmiel was tested for banned substances after NASCAR Busch Series qualifying at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C.
The results of the test were positive, violating Section 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing) and Section 12-4-E (violation of the NASCAR Substance Abuse Policy) of the 2005 NASCAR rule book.
Hmiel was suspended for nearly four months at the end of the 2003 season for a similar substance abuse violations.
Hmiel is 14th in the current NASCAR Busch Series driver championship standings.
Well I didn't choose him, so I wouldnt have been affected. I find he's a little too reckless a lot of times. And Dover is just the kind of place he could get into trouble easily.
What a putz!! Any idea what his particular violation was. Nascar probably won't say. I'd say the ole mary jane by looking at him. Hey Hmiel set the joint down, they're paying you great cash and I for one will happily take over your ride. ( I'm sure I could smack the wall every bit as hard as you!! lol
