This past season there was a little larger than normal turn-around with new rookies late in the year. This allowed them to have a bunch of extra bonus claim jumper picks over most of the field who exhausted them already. As a result of this, many rookies were able to win races which most likely wouldn't have been the case if they were more on the level with the rest of the field.
We still wanted to keep the claim jumper bonus to give the Nationwide series a little something different than the other two series.
To keep this from happening again, the council voted on a change for next season. This idea was actually brought up by Wendal Ebach earlier in the year.
Next year we will divide the season by three segments. In that segment you can use any bonus driver once. However, once a new segment starts you can use that driver again.
There are 35 races in the year, so we will divide the season up as equally as possible. 12 races in the first segment, 12 in the second segment and 11 in the final segment. We'll see how it works out but it should solve those problems we faced this past season.
