Yes it is, but this server pissed me off for the last time. They have virtually no support department, just some guy who runs the whole thing I think. I did some research and found out a lot of people had problems with this server in the past. Guess I should have done a little more homework on it before I signed up. Just saw a good price and took it.
Anyway, I found what I think will be the new company that I'm gonna switch to. A little extra per month, but it will be worth it. I was worried this guy's site was gonna shut down and I would've lost the whole league. Well I just finished making a backup of everything that I have on my home pc.
Probably in the beginning of next week I'm gonna do the switch. Don't want to do it right now because race weekend is here and I don't know what's going to happen when transferring the domain name. Might shut down for a bit.
will any operating procedures (message board, pick forms, articles, and such) be affected when you make the switch after you get it all squared away? not familiar with the ins and outs of web hosting.
Well the board won't be affected at all since it's run by a different company, Sparklit. The email and picks forms will all be fine, I'll just add them to the new site.
If all goes as planned, I should just be able to restore the backup file to the new site, and everything should just load up as it is here.
The biggest thing I'm worry about is transferring the domain name of luckydogracing.com. The company that registered the name needs to be contacted first and I've lost a lot of confidence now in this company.
I looked into it and it says the transfer process says it takes 48-72 hours. Therefore, I think I'm going to have to wait a little longer, probably an off week.
The first off week will be after the Pennsylvania 500, the race that I'm going to. I guess I'll wait til then to change it, hopefully there will be no more problems until then. I'm going to have to backup the site more often too.
