why would gibbs put terry in to quallify the 11 car jason wil;l have to move to the very back and if he cant qualify the car in the feild i dont see why he should be in the race no need to put in terry
Terry is already qualified because he has won at the track. Jason is only 36th in points and would have to qualify to make the show. So if Jason didn't make it then the Fedex car sits, where as Terry is already in the show. (I think)
That's because Leffler is not going to be in the race. Labonte is qualifying and racing.
Joe Gibbs Racing has hired two-time NASCAR Winston Cup Series champion Terry Labonte to pilot the #11 Fed-Ex Chevrolet during the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race weekend at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA. He replaces Jason Leffler, the #11 team's regular driver, for this one event. "Jason understands that our support of him continues, as he'll race this weekend at Michigan and return to the #11 at Daytona," said J.D. Gibbs, president of Joe Gibbs Racing. "A number of factors led to this decision. Where the #11 is in points, the typically high car count at Sonoma, the number of road course specialists other teams tend to enlist, the unique nature of road course racing - none favors a team outside the top-35 in points. With an experienced veteran in Terry, the #11 will benefit from his 25 years of Nextel Cup racing and his strong performances at road course venues." In addition to his championship-caliber talents, Labonte also brings road course success to the #11 team. Of his 22 career wins, two have come at a road course - the defunct Riverside (Calif.) Speedway in 1984 and 1985. And in his 54 career starts at road courses, Labonte has earned eight poles, 17 top-fives and 26 top-10s while leading a total of 411 laps. "I've always enjoyed road course racing, and while no road courses were planned for this year, it's hard to say no when you have the opportunity to drive for an organization that's just as professional as Hendrick Motorsports," said Labonte, who is running a limited Nextel Cup schedule for Hendrick Motorsports. "We want to thank Hendrick Motorsports for allowing Terry to assist us with the #11 team at Sonoma," said Gibbs. "Rick Hendrick and Hendrick Motorsports helped get Joe Gibbs Racing up and running when we formed this team back in 1991, and 14 years later, we're once again appreciative of their help."(True Speed Communication/Hendrick Motorsports PR)(6-14-2005)
Also, when Fedex is writting the check for sponsorship its nice to see their car out there and not sitting on the truck. Jason will get better but I think he understands the big picture of it all.

oh i thought jason was gonna race but ok and ^^^^^^^^^^^^ aduh
and jason wont get any better if they put other drivers in the car ,and theres not really a "big picture" to this except pleaseing the sponsors but all in all i think terry or anyone else driving the car is a mistake
last week, some reporter asked J.D. Gibbs about Leffler's chances of staying in the #11, he said "Jason isn't going anywhere right now, he is guaranteed to be in that car until July......"
lefler? what a joke. how many chances does that midget need? the only way that fedex car gets on TV is because its in the wall every week. oh i forgot, bobby got a chance to win in fedex colors but choked when JJ passed him or i should say motored buy him in turn four at lowes

Well u may be right on the motoring BY but bobby held him off for a lap and 3/4 so evidently jj's car wasnt that fast and bobby didnt fu**in choke
Jimmie would not have won that race if Nascar didnt throw the red flag because of a blown tire and a spin. Lowes wanted thier car to win at Lowes Motor Speedway. If Nascar would have put the yellow out then there would have been 2 or 3 laps at the end and Jimmie never would have passed Bobby.
no conspiricy theories please....I hated it when everyone said Nascar fixed the July 2001 Daytona race so I can't agree with Lowe's trying to bribe Nascar for making sure their car won.
Hah.. the funniest is the one I just heard. Some people believe nascar told Jimmie Johnson to fade back at the end of the race so Jr. wouldn't lose more points behind the chase, lol.

tooz excellent,excellent post!
Labonte don't worry Jason will get better. If its in cup or busch or truck. Just that right now he isn't pulling his weight.
NASCAR has made quite a few bad calls in the past couple years including back at dover last year when kasey kahne was dominating the race casey mears engine blew and oil was everywhere nascar decided not to throw the caution and then the fastest car kasey kahne spun and crash in the oil in my opinion that was the worst decision nascar has ever made and i dont even like kasey kahne
LM, in that instance, I don't think there was enough time to throw the caution.......Kahne was right behind him when it happened...by the time Nascar saw it, Kandy Kahne had already spun into the wall. (besides, Nascar would have loved to see Kahne win last year, much like this year with Edwards)
