...extremely happy Danica won't be back in NWide until June? I HATE how much they talk about her. HATE HATE HATE it. It's OBNOXIOUS.
There was a half hour interview before the race with her. They actually have her a chair to sit in during the interview. Stupid questions, too.
I don't care how awesome or great she will be for the sport, she can't drive a stock car yet. There was no reason for her to be 3 seconds off the pace in California. She hasn't finished better than.. what... 35th in any of the three races? She wrecked in two, but wasn't running much better than where she finished.
Seriously ESPN, quit boring us and let us watch some real racing!!!!!!!!

DANICA PATRICKS STOCK CAR DEBUT DRAWS 2.4 MILLION VIEWERS; LIFTS ARCA RATINGS TO RECORD LEVEL ON SPEED
SPEED coverage of the ARCA Racing Series season opener from Daytona scored a Nielsen Household Rating of 2.30 (1,723,000 households), a 59-percent increase over last years 1.45 (1,062,000 households). Highlighted by the stock car debut of Danica Patrick, race coverage peaked at 2.66 (1,997,000 households), up a stunning 72 percent from last years peak of 1.55 (1,137,000 households).
According to Nielsen Media Research, 2.4 million viewers tuned in to see the Saturday afternoon race, an 87-percent increase over last years audience of 1.3 million.
The Daytona ARCA race always has been a strong performer for SPEED, said network President Hunter Nickell. We expected a ratings bump from the Danica factor, but this is much more than a bump. There is no question that her strong debut performance is great news for her, her team and everyone involved in the sport. She handled an intense amount of attention and drove an excellent race.
The Nielsen ratings, which positioned SPEED as the No. 1 network in basic cable during the time slot, were the highest ever for an ARCA race and rank only behind SPEEDs exclusive coverage of the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race as the highest ratings ever for the network.
Motor sports veteran journalist and SPEEDtv.com reporter Robin Miller agrees Patricks debut was a ringing success.
This is why they cover her so much. You know how the Media is, they jump on the band wagon that everyone is wanting to see. How many interveiws have you seen with Joe Nemechek in them lately, and hes higher in the NNW points then she is.
Plus Danica is currently ranked the 4th highest NASCAR driver for souvenir sales. They showed her souvenir trailer with tons of people there.
Since she brings in tons of money, of course they are going to cover her a lot. We'll just see how long it lasts, depending on how she performs or how long she stays in the series.
Plus she really isn't bad to look at either, so I don't mind seeing her on tv!
If your a fan of the sport, and she is good for the sport, how can you hate her? Must be cuz shes a woman.

Don't get me wrong... I do NOT hate her. I hate the coverage she gets, and I think it's ridiculous. I'm sure I am not the only person who is being turned off to the races she runs in due to the constant #7 coverage. Yesterday during McDowell's first wreck, the replay was her. They were like "see right there, he blew a tire." Well, they didn't even show the 81 on the track, just the 7 "making a great move (even though she did nothing different)".
Thank god she isn't back until June at New Hampshire. I will be at that race, so I won't have to see the TV coverage! haha.

I usually go to Loudon on the Saturday morning and camp with my aunt and uncle. I watch the NWide race, party Saturday night, then go to the Cup race, too.

I am in total agreement to the fact that she gets way too much coverage. I understand why she gets the coverage, but that does not mean that I have to like it. During the California race she got more coverage than any other driver in history that was running in the 35-40th position.
