Double big time loss for the Yankees


Wow, first they lose their voice, legend announcer Bob Sheppard.

Now today, The Boss, George Steinbrenner passes away after a heart attack.

two Yankee legends gone in two days.

say what you will about him being so terrible to work for but..................

the man did what it took to win (including not sharing his money with other teams) and he was VERY PHILANTHROPIC outside of baseball.

how so?

Philly, Cubs, St. Louis, Boston, and Yankees have the biggest payrolls in baseball and yet Atlanta, Florida, White Sox, Minnesota and Arizona have all won Championships.

I agree revenue sharing is a good thing, but not having it doesn't ruin baseball anymore than Instant Replay does. There are more than 25 high paid superstars that can win.

He was the first of the owners to spend tons of money. Teams in big markets were forced to keep up and spend money as well. Small market teams have to build with what they can and pray for the best. Or go for it all like the Marlins in 97 and sell the whole entire team the next year.
