Scheduled changes, 3 tracks loses? 3 gain dates?: SPEED's Bob Dillner reported on the July 11th SPEED Report that rumors have Auto Club Speedway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Atlanta Motor Speedway with second race dates going to Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Kansas Speedway and Kentucky Speedway getting a Sprint Cup race. No word how this will shake up the Sprint Cup schedule, can be figured out a few different ways. Look for Atlanta Motor Speedway to keep it's Labor Day weekend date and doubtful Las Vegas would get a summer date with the heat there.
Auto Club Speedway definately needs to lose a date, kind of a shame about New Hampshire and Atlanta. I wonder how Pocono still manages to keep both its dates? Vegas provides some great racing so would be nice to see another race there. Looks like Kentucky might finally get their Cup date, I'm sure Nathan, Dean and Gary will be happy about that.
I dont have a problem with New Hampshire or California losing races. Atlanta is a great racetrack!! Vegas will sell out a 2nd date, and kentucky should get a race. Being from Kansas, I dont understand a 2nd race here. Only 80k seats and no lights. maybe its the new casino they are going to build off turn 1-2. The racing is ok but they need to bank the corners higher to increase the speeds..

Anyone, with any brains, knew that was the only reason New Hampshire was bought. They swore up in down in the media that they would not move a race. But as usual NASCAR is ruled by the bucks. New Hampshire is always a sell out and services the whole north east and Canada. I have been to Atlanta too and that is a great place to watch a race. But to tell the truth I am getting sick of the big tracks, even on TV, and am enjoying the local short tracks and the modifies much more again. Much more up close and personal.
I love Atlanta finishes just as much as you guys, but they will suffer the same fate that Darlington did..............take it for granted and not show up and Nascar will pull the plug on the date.........The Lady In Black's attendance only went back up after there was threats to pull it from the schedule.
I'm just going off the top of my head here, but I know Kentucky sells out every Nationwide race. The problem is though, I'm pretty sure they don't have a lot of seats compared to other tracks.
And I miss The Rock. Seeing that Ricky Craven-Kurt Busch epic battle just makes me wish they would have never left.
Its ok Leff, it seemed like drivers that did well at Darlington also ran well at the Rock. Remember the days when drivers had to really manage their tires, and Darlington and Rockingham were known for eating tires. Some of these drivers these days has no clue to what an ill-handling car is. Thats why Dale Sr. was so good, he could take a car that was junk and win with it.
Well it looks like Atlanta is the first victim to lose a race.
Atlanta announces one race for 2011: Atlanta Motor Speedway officials announced the facility's 2011 event schedule will include one NASCAR racing weekend on September 2-4. One of the original NASCAR superspeedways, the track has hosted two of NASCAR's premier event weekends for 50 years, including the upcoming Emory Healthcare 500 slated for Sunday night, Sept. 5. "Atlanta Motor speedway has provided top-quality racing entertainment to spectators from across the nation and around the world for 50 years," said speedway president, Ed Clark. "While our schedule will change, our commitment to the racing fans who have been the heart and soul of Atlanta Motor Speedway through these years will be stronger than ever. Our entire staff will be even more driven to produce the top annual sporting event in Georgia for many years to come."(AMS)(8-5-2010)
That sucks...Atlanta is a track where real racing occurs. The times they are a changing.....

was shame to see Atlanta lose a date but everyone saw it coming. too many people wanna go to race there but dont....is great track with great racing but seats have been pretty empty last few years....Darlington has showed resurgence but numbers have come back down a little and people will be crying bout it, myself included unless attendance picks back up over next few years
