I was going to wait until all council members voted before concluding the decision, however my Vice President urged me to take the points away for Pruett. I'm sure he will make his opinions known as well. I personally did not agree with the decision, but I guess it's my fault for not making it clearer within the rules.
Since Pruett did not qualify in the car he was scheduled to qualify in, his points will not count for those members who chose him in the #39 car.
They will only count for anyone who chose Marlin in the #40 car.
I'm sure some members will be mad, it affected me as well. However, we can't please everyone. Someone would be mad either way. According to the how the rules were stated, this is the proper decision.
Good idea, but I think it should be all or nothing.
We haven't given out half points for anything in the past. Also, if I'm going to go back and change all the results, I'd rather be doing it for all the points.
I was playing with the numbers and by my calculations, I think the team with the most lost this weekend by not getting the Pruett points would have to be Pappy's Drivers, the league leader at the moment. He and four others all picked Pruett as a Superstar..........by him not getting the points for that, it seems that the top five really closed up again. So far, I don't know if he has voiced any complaints but I would think he has the most right to gripe about it over all others.
I know Council members have been emailing back and forth on the subject of the Pruett Points situation. Just for the Record, has the decision been made final? Or is it still up for debate? I think it should be finalized one way or the other no matter whom it favors by Tuesday night.
It has been finalized for this race. the points will stand as they are now.
However, I think we will wait until during the offseason to make this move, but I think we need to look at our policy of driver substitutions.
I think we should gear it towards the drivers rather than the cars. If someone picks a driver, that person should get the points for that driver regardless of what car he is in. That means that there will be no automatic driver switches if something happens to the designated driver at the last minute. If you pick someone and at the last minute they can't race, you'll be out of luck. Sometimes crap happens and you end up biting the bullet unfortunately.
NASCAR didn't give Pruett's points to Marlin. Whoever is in the race should get the points.

only because Marlin did not run at least one lap as per their rules. I agree with other members of the league who think Busch and Cup should have separate rules on this matter with sub-drivers and drivers squeaking into a race.
Right, so if Marlin started the race and then switched to Pruett after the race had begun, then those people who chose Marlin should get his points. But if it happens before the start of the race, then the points should go to Pruett.
That would probably be open for debate. Currently, if you pick someone as a superstar and they don't qualify for a race, you can't use them again.
However, this was a rainout and we don't have a rule regarding superstars and rainouts. I guess we better make one up before it bites us in the butt someday!
I would say let the pick be usuable again, but I'd like to hear what the other council members have to say.
Luckily he won't be racing again this year, or at least I wouldn't think he would be.
I think this is a non-issue due to the fact, not many races left are his 'style', but I certainly have no objection to those five teams being able to use him again if they so choose.
