Need some opinions on the Busch League

For next year I would like to set up the driver groups a little differently.

For the Busch Series its tough though, because there are only about 20 guys, or a little under that run every race. The rest of the standings is made up of Busch-wackers, and guys that switch off between different cars as we all know.

I think it might be a little tough to go to a salary system like the Cup league, so I think driver groups would be the best option.

However, I think I'd rather go to 5 drivers per group. I don't particulary like having Truex Jr. and Bowyer in the same group as Kenny Wallace and David Green.

What I'm thinking is just to list the top 25 guys in the standings on the pick sheet. I guess that would mean grouping some of the Buschwackers in other groups, but that might not be a bad thing. I would have to rearrange the groups more often though. As for the other guys that run races out of the top 25, maybe I can have it where you could replace any driver in either of the top 2 groups with your pick.

Is there anything else people would like to see changed or added to the Busch Series... without adding all the additional stats and records like the Cup Series, that is.

How about doing three groups?

one group would be the Busch wackers.

one group would be the odd-numbered positions in the standings.

one group would be the even-numbered positions in the standings.

two from both groups of regulars and only one busch-wacker per race. updating the groups every ten races?

I like the idea of only having three groups with only one Busch-wacker the most, but maybe separating the other two groups another way..........(i.e.- car makes, car numbers, top and bottom half of standings, etc.)

Just my opinion of some ideas.

I tried doing a Busch Series @ The Cool Pool last season, we did the top 30 in points into 6 groups of 5. It was hard, because not everyone ran every race and stuff. If I were to do it again, I would probably make one large buschwacker group, and 2 to 4 small groups of the regulars. But, there will be some people who run both series (Carl Edwards for example). Well, just leave that person in the regular groups, and not the Busch Wackers. Ya know? It will take some thinking, but i'm sure Lou will figure something fun and exciting out. Change is always good.

Tooz: DEI Has 100 wins in 25 years, not 8 . Story Below:

100 Wins for DEI/Chance2: For the 100th time since Dale Earnhardt, Inc. [counting Chance2] was formed 25 years ago, there is a checkered flag flying outside their corporate headquarters. When the #8 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet of Martin Truex, Jr. pulled into Victory Lane at Indianapolis Raceway Park on Saturday night, it was his sixth of the season. But, for DEI it marked a milestone in their history. The team Dale and Teresa Earnhardt co-founded made its first visit to a Victory Lane in March 1985 with Dale winning a Busch Series race at Rockingham Speedway. There are only six drivers who can claim they contributed to the team’s 100 wins earned at 33 different NASCAR venues. Dale Earnhardt [17 wins], Dale Earnhardt, Jr. [35], Ron Hornaday [27], Martin Truex, Jr. [12], Steve Park [5] and Michael Waltrip [4]. Truex, Jr. delivered a championship to the team winning the 2004 NASCAR Busch Series crown [and currently leads the points there in 2005], Earnhardt Jr. won the Busch crown in 1998 amd 1999 and Hornaday delivered two Craftsman Truck Series championships during his tenure with the team.(DEI PR)(8-11-2005)

well you could make the guys that run every race under salaries and then have the "free group" of the guys that dont run every race and make the salary per week lower than you normaly wouldand make everyone pick 3 or 4 of the salary guys a 1-2 of the free guys if you get what im saying

How about

Group 1: 1-15 in owner points (Busch regulars)

Group 2: 16-30 in owner points (Busch regulars)

Group 3: any driver not listed in group 1 or 2 thats on the entry list (Cup drivers, Road course ringers, or one time rides)

Groups 1 and 2, pick 2 drivers from each group

Group 3 pick one

Update groups 1 and 2 every ten races

8 Martin Truex Jr.
2 Clint Bowyer
41 Reed Sorenson*
21 Brando Miller
22 Kenny Wallace
20 Denny Hamlin*
33 Tony Raines
66 Aaron Fike
27 David Green
14 David Stremme
11 Paul Menard
25 Ashton Lewis
35 Jason Keller
18 J.J. Yeley

Group 2

6 Casey Atwood
38 Tyler Walker
59 Stacy Compton
34 Randy LaJoie
44 Justin Labonte
47 Jon Wood*
