Something must be done........

RTI - the growing Menace

What are all the teams to do with this conglomerate?  Three straight Team Championships and it hasn't been close at the end any of the times.

Is the team concept a bad thing? Do Matt, Dean, Nathan, and Stephen hold an unfair advantage over the rest of the league?  Let's look at the facts:

3-time Team Champions
All four members qualified for the Chase this year.
Three members qualified for the LROC this past season.
Dean won the LROC Drivers Championship....twice.
Stephen won the Streak to the Finish....twice.
9 driver wins these last three years in Cup.
We won't talk about the NW and Truck Championships.
Nor will we talk about the Stick and Ball Championships.

Does the whole Team Concept need to be re-worked? Or do we keep the concept the same and break up this POWERHOUSE?  Does Lou need to be asked to step in and force Matt's hand and try to create parity in the League again?

You may be asking yourself why I am being the one to ask these questions seeing as I have gotten the Team Owner's Championship the last three years.  Simply, I know I am speaking for some sort of percentage out there who has had to endure this terrible onslaught of domination.

But to get to the heart of the matter.........No, I do not think RTI needs to be broken up anymore than I think JJ should be stripped of his titles.  Like him and Knaus, RTI is playing within the rules that everyone else has to abide and produce under.

My favorite 'argument' is the one where we hold the unfair advantage because we get the most bonus points.......but look closely, we get alot of negative as well..........whereas we finish in the Top Five alot, so do we finish at the bottom alot as well.

No, no parity is needed.  Games need to be stepped up.  Teams need to be re-sorted.  Competition needs to be reborn.

I am not writing this to be a braggart.....more the complete opposite....I love to see other teams (i.e.- Mafia, Northcoast, Intimidator) give us a run for our money........it makes victory that much sweeter.

And get ready folks, all four members of RTI - Nathan Helton, Stephen Dicaprio, Dean Higley and yours truly, Matt Sealey have already commited to each other to make it FOUR IN A ROW next year!

oh geeze.....

Maybe we should have a chase format for the team points. God knows most of you fell flat when the Chase began.

Only Intimidator Racing, Inc. could put three of its members into the top 5.  RTI had three of its members in the bottom 5.

Yea, but the only spot in the top 5 that means anything is the spot that Gwen got. I finished 3rd two years in a row and it wasnt even close to the satisfaction of winning the Team Championship. You guys did great in the Chase and no one can take that away from you but the Team Championship was won by the best team just like the Driver Championship was won by the best Driver. It was a great year for Gwen and a great year for RTI and thats what everyone will remember.

Good Luck to all the Drivers and Teams next year, it will be here before you know it

Hate to pop everyones bubble, but I was on a "team" this year and never once checked to see how we were doing. Maybe RTI is the only team that takes it serious, communicates with each other during the season, and makes their choices as a team. I dunno, the team thingy just wasnt there for me and I will not be on one next year. I am sure its a prestigious thing to some, but others really dont give a hoot. So, keep on winning RTI. You have done well!

Now that you bring it up here. The team concept is great. The only problem is team points being used for individual stats. Team points should be for the team championship. I never could see how they work together. I voted for them to try but have been convinced from the start it does not work. Just like in NASCAR you have team points and individual points. Thats what I think needs to be addressed in the off season.

John M., Unfortunately some teams are like that, depends on the leadership I guess. I'm sure RTI communicated each week and I can tell you that Intimidator Racing, Inc. emailed each other quite a few times during the week.  Whatever you put into the league, that's what you get out of it.

I had one guy in the Truck series that didn't care much about the league, deadlines or anything else about it, so he went bye bye late in the season.

John S. - We can discuss it for sure, my only fear is that without bonus points added into the driver scores, people won't care about teams at all. We might have less multi-teams next year. Sounds like the Randy Cook Racing team might be breaking up unless he can bring in a few more people.

I know one team that will be gone next year and a few players that have informed me they will be leaving the teams they were on in 2010.

So we will have a shakeup of teams next season for sure. I guess the council should discuss what changes we can make to make multi-car teams more appealing. Unfortunately there are some people that don't want to work with others, they just want to make picks by themselves and that's fine too.

Wow I love this!!!

As for communicating, each one of us emailed each other every single week for the entire season our plans for making picks. Even going into Homestead where 3 of us had a realistic chance to win the title, we still worked with each other. You win as a team and die as a team.

If anyone doesn't believe in the team concept, check out the September Richmond results for some reassurance!!!

I am all for teams. If you remember I had the first team that talked each week about or picks and it worked very well until other factors came into play. I think the teams would be running for a team championship, which would be separate and drivers running for the cup. Every on should realize, just like NASCAR, no single car team will ever win the team championship.

I really enjoy the team atmosphere as well, but I agree with John S. I don't think that the team bonus points should count in the individual points total. Would JJ have won five in a row if his individual points were affected by how the 24, 5 and 88 ran....I seriously doubt it.

Another thing is in Lou's email no one not on a team made the chase. Maybe those extra points do make a difference.
