The 2012 streak to the championship came to an end at Homestead. There wasn't much drama in the final week since the championship had already been decided. The only thing we were waiting to see if the all-time points record would be broken. Unfortuntely Lou came up just a bit short in his bid to topple Stephen DiCaprio's total that he got in 2010 (with 40 weeks). He did set a new record for the largest win margin, 272 points over 2nd place.
Lou ended the season with successful picks in both the Cup and Nationwide race and had the highest total for the week with 66. He missed with his Truck pick which cost him some points. He ended the year with 1744 points, just 22 points shy of the all-time record.
He ended the year with a 3 week Cup streak and 9 week Nationwide streak, his season highs were 5 weeks in the Cup series, 2 weeks in the Truck series and tying the record for most weeks in the Nationwide series with 15.
He shared that Nationwide record with Kevin Sullivan who he had quite a battle with earlier in the year. Kevin finished the season in 2nd place with 1472 points. He scored 48 points this week thanks to extending his Nationwide streak to 9 weeks as well.
Jessy Turgeon finished in 3rd place with 1426 points. He had a good run later in the season and came close to closing in on Lou thanks to his Nationwide streak which reached 11 weeks. Unfortunately Jessy petered out towards the end and was eventually passed by Kevin Sullivan.
Stephen DiCaprio finished in 4th place with 1302 points. It's the same spot that Stephen finish in last year. He is the only member to finish in the top 6 of all 6 seasons of the streak to the finish.
Rounding out the top 5 was Dean Higley with 1278 points. His highlight of the year was reaching the 2nd highest Nationwide streak with 13 weeks.
In the final week, Natalie Jones was the only person to gain a spot in the standings. She moved to 7th place after scoring 54 points, the 2nd highest score of the week.
That's it, another season comes to an end. Thank you all for playing, hopefully you will join us again next year. Also, hopefully some of the others who only played a partial season will commit to a full season as well.
