To satisfy an increased demand for tickets at NASCAR’s original superspeedway, Darlington Raceway has added a new 6,200-seat grandstand in Turn 1, which will be completed and open for business when NASCAR’s NEXTEL Cup and Busch series return to the track on Mother’s Day weekend, May 12-13.
Doesn't look like they will be losing their date after all,...........Good news! That's always a good race to watch as everyone loses their tires.
That's good to hear. I think Darlington is a great track and I read it's become in great demand now, selling out in advance.
I haven't been to a race there yet, but I have visited it when there was no race going on. It's very cool to go and see. It's this little track in the middle of nowhere. Visiting it is like taking a step back into time. They have a nice museum there with old cars and other memorablia.
Plus you can go out on the track as well. You just go to little guardhouse right by the track entrance, fill out the sign-in form, and you get to walk out on the track by yourself.
I have pictures of it when we went to NC last year, I should upload them sometime.
