This month or next, NASCAR is expected to implement in Nextel Cup a version of the “green-white-checkered flag” rule used in its Craftsman Truck Series.
The change essentially means that a race would always end under the green flag, even if that means running past the scheduled distance.
Some drivers love it. Some drivers hate it.
NASCAR all ready has too many rules and all they need is more rules.
Well this is one new rule I wouldn't mind seeing in the sport. There's nothing more of a let down than after watching cars go around the track clse to 200 mph, to watch them crawl across the finish line... woohoo... how exciting.... blah. It's an insult for the fans watching at the race and on tv. This is one change that's long over due.
The new rules does not guarantee a green flag finish, if there is a caution after the green/white/checkered the race is then over. If I am reading it correctly....
If you watched this weekend's truck race, it will show you exactly why they will only have one green-white-checker finish and not multiple ones if cautions come out. This was the last race that the truck series will have multiple g-w-c finishes, they will only go to one like the other series. Quite a few trucks crashed out of the race during those wild restarts.
