Jeff Burton to RCR

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Jeff Burton has been rumored to be leaving Roush Racing for more than a year. Thursday, the rumor became fact.

Burton will move from Roush's No. 99 Ford to Richard Childress Racing's No. 30 Chevrolet, beginning next weekend at Michigan International Speedway, and has signed a three-year contract to drive for Childress.

CONCORD, N.C. -- Roush Racing announced Thursday that Carl Edwards will enter Nextel Cup Series competition as the driver of the No. 99 Roush Racing Ford for the remainder of the 2004 season at Michigan next weekend.

Edwards, currently third in the Craftsman Truck Series championship standings, will continue to drive the No. 99 Superchips Ford F-150 in the remaining Truck Series races.

The driver selection will have to be changed next week for Michigan. No word on what Dave Blaney will be doing but he'll be taken off the driver selection list, and Carl Edwards will be added. Of course, whenever Blaney does race, he'll be available as a 5k driver.
