Zipperhead Racing will not return for the 2007 season.
My 4yr old son Andrew has autism and will begin a more intense schooling next year and will need his crew chief by his side. We became aware that there was a problem with him when he didn't talk until he was after 2. These two years of his life are the most important ones. We have heard some very encouraging news from his peditrican, his neurologist and his school teachers about his progress. He is a very special child and he just keeps learning and wanting to learn. We are going to push him and get him more into "mainstream" classes in school and other activites. Since, we have moved to Florida he has begun to progress even more, the outbusts have become less, he talks so much more, he gets to go outside everyday and he has even starting spelling. Simply amazing!
The decision not to return was one that I had to make with his new schedule of nights and weekends. I knew that I could not devote myself 100% to all the fantasy leagues that I play in.
I like to thank all who have emailed me these past couple of weeks wishing me the best and of course a special thank you to Speedy. I like to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving (except Dallas fans, hope the Bucs beat you on Thursday, always makes the turkey taste better.) I love all of you and will continue to pray for each and every one of you.
Thanks Steve, I wish all the best for both you and your son. It was a pleasure having you here and I thank you for your time in serving on the council as well.
Enjoy the Florida weather... heck of a lot better than NJ, eh?
I hope you can still drop by from time to time and let us know how you're making out. I'll leave your name active on the board since you're one of the good guys
Your post really puts it all in perspective Steve. Fantasy racing is fun, but its not everything nor the most important thing. I hope your son continues to make more of the same progress that he's shown already.
sorry, can't root for the Bucs seeing as I am a Panthers fan but ya gotta admit, that Romo has looked pretty good lately. (tell ya what, I'll root for Washington after we beat them down, lol)
Zippy, hate too see ya go brother. I certainly understand though. You will be missed by all I'm sure. Florida has a great school system. I know cause I went there in the second grade. Moved to North Carolina the next year and continued to "learn" what I'd already been taught in Fla. up to the 6th grade! Unbelieveable eh? I'm sure god has a special plan for your son so don't worry about a thing bro! I will pray for his progress and your families happiness in your new surrounding. Please stay in touch and I know we'll meet in person soon. Maybe a Falcons game, or maybe a Jags game. Or maybe you'll break away for a race here in Hotlanta! You've always got a place to stay at Eli's and my house. Good luck and God bless. You will be missed and are unreplacable in my mind. Peace
