MotorVehicles.com, Governor George E. Pataki announced the availability of New York's newest and the nation's first-ever custom license plate honoring the legendary NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt.

"I am proud that New York has taken the lead among other states in creating a custom plate to honor the life and career of legendary NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt," Governor Pataki said. "By purchasing the 'Dale Earnhardt Legacy' plate, NASCAR fans throughout New York can pay tribute to this seven-time Winston Cup winner and show their pride and enthusiasm for this great sport."

The new red, white, black and gray 'Legacy' plate features a silhouette of Dale Earnhardt with arms stretched out in victory in front of the trademark "E" against a black background. His signature and the NASCAR logo are just below the image. Complete with New York in bold black letters across the top center, the new Legacy plate may be purchased for passenger or commercial vehicles registered throughout New York State.

To order a "Dale Earnhardt Legacy" license plate, interested individuals can visit any DMV issuing office or log on to the Department's website at www.nysdmv.com. Fans can also call the DMV Custom Plates office at 518-402-4838, Monday through Friday between 8am and 4:30pm.
