Well the pres had it exactly correct when he predicted that JR would be docked 25 pts for his post race slip of the tongue. I see where DEI will appeal. I hope the appeal is successful and the points are given back, just go with a fine. It would be a real black eye on NASCAR if this 25 points ended up determining the Nextel Cup winner. It wasn't like he said this in anger, he was very happy after winning a great race and had a slip of the tongue.
Who will actually make the decision on DEI's appeal?
Nascar did this to themselves....you cant police personality and then tell drivers to evoke it as honestly as possible.......either way its over and Dale Jr. moves on........
appeal? gimme a break.......i can not honestly ever remember Nascar reversing a decision from an appeal for ANYTHING...the reason being the guys who look it over again are the same ones that made the decision in the first place, Brian France and Mike Helton.
You know, NASCAR sucks. I mean there isn't any other sport that takes points away because of a slip of the lip. How many times have you been watching a football or baseball game and you heard players curse?
I remember a few Superbowls where you could hear they players saying some colorful language as they ran out on the field because they were pumped. The Superbowl is the biggest event of the year, but do the players or teams get fined Because of it? No. They know the fields are mic'd.
NASCAR is a little different and drivers should try to keep it under control in victory lane, but occasionally things are gonna slip.
I know NASCAR is under pressure from the FCC ever since the last superbowl and have to act accordingly. Dale Jr. should be punished, no doubt about it. But it should be hefty fine rather than have points taken away. Taking away points punishes the whole team and with the chase scenario, you need all the points you can get.
It may be too late now but NASCAR should leave the punishments to fines only and leave the points as is. Maybe fine them more than 10k. With the money some of these drivers have, its little more than pocket change. And no I don't think that way just because Dale Jr. was affected, that would be the case with any driver.
anyone else hear that Biffle and Kahne were docked 25 points as well this week? didnt think so.........everyone is too concerned with Jr.
they both docked because of spoiler modifications.........too bad it didnt help them in the race....lol
both of their owners were docked 25 points as well as their crew chiefs were fined 10,000 dollars..........one of Biffle's crew suspended for two races........
four other teams fined or docked points for other minor infractions
but all anyone heard about this week was Jr. and his language..........forget all the drivers that were CHEATING!!!!!
It's only natural that very few people care about 25 pts effecting Kahne and Biffle at this time in the season. Neither one of them is in the chase for the championship and thats what the focus is for the last ten races. Jr. was in first place so naturally he would get more attention than two of this years also ran drivers Kahne and Biffle. If the driver isn't in the top ten at this point he not news worthy, other than someone like No.31 who wrecks one of the top ten drivers.
