I never get upset at Baseball games because its not a good thing to do at a game where the players are 7 years old. So I needed to vent and I thought you guys would understand. My son Reid was up to bat nobody on base and he hit the ball to shortstop and he overthrew the first baseman so Reid kept digging he rounded second when the first baseman threw to second, as he got to third the ball flew over the third baseman and hit the fence well Reid took off for home and the third baseman threw it to the catcher and he caught it and tag the base before Reid even got there and the ump said out. The catcher threw the ball to the coach running the pitching machine as Reid slid in Home. I could not belive he called him out, Reid was the only base runner and they never tag him with the ball and Reid touch all the bases. I can deal with judgment calls but this was wrong, this ump should know the rules. Im not up on all the rules of baseball, but is it not a basic rule that if its not a force out you have to tag the runner. Well I feel better now that I got that out, Thanks
nobel man there nat ! most of us wouldnt have that much control , important thing is for your son to know he was never out . nothing wrong with being a sport and taking his out like a man but he did an awesome job and should be congratulated as such and shown he was bigger man but deserved to be on base or home plate as it were. offer him our congrats on his inside the park homer !
I have coached in some of the younger kids leagues. Only question I have is, does this particular league allow a team to bat around once, then switch? If so, was your son the last batter, and if so, all a team has to do is throw it home and the inning is over. It may be different in the state you are in, but thats how it is done here. When the last batter hits the ball, all that is required is for them to throw it home, and the inning ends. Hope that helps

rule states-- a player can only advance one base if the ball enters a dead ball area. when the ball went over the 1st basemans head did this occure? and their is a five run rule, would he have been the sixth. or bat around rule, was he the ninth? You need to think about chill mode, cause as he gets older, its going to get a lot more competitive!! and your Bp will rise even more!!
Nope the ball was in the field of play the whole time. It never went in the dugout or under the fence. If that was the case he would have not been out, they would have made him stop at second. He was the third batter so it was not because the team went through the batting order and we had no runs in this inning so it wasnt the 5 runs per inning rule. So I feel this ump just made a bad call, I understand they have a tough job and have to stand their ground on a judgment call. But in this case when Reids coach pointed out his mistake it was like the ump could not swallow his pride and admit he was wrong.
Yates, I know. My son Austin plays in the 12 years old League. These games are more competitive and the BP does get up there. I really enjoy these games and have really only seen jugdment calls by these umps, they seem to be more vocal in the game and know what their doing.
