Mikey actually makes a race, meanwhile 9 teams picked Vickers and he didn't. Also, 5 teams picked Riggs and he didn't make it in. No one picked Waltrip.
14 teams starting out with -5 points this week while only CrazyAboutRusty2 was the only one to pick the pole winner, Casey Mears.
It must be nice to be up 10 points on 30% of the field even before the Green Flag drops.
I had a feeling Vickers was going to screw me... oh well. I don't think I'll be picking any more 5k drivers this year. That's twice this has happened to me now.
If you have the guts to pick a driver not in the top 35 in points and he does not make the race, you better have the stomach to stare a minus 10 or more in the face. Its not fair that a minus is the same for a blown engine with 20 laps to go after you ran in the top ten all day with out leading a lap, and the guy who has been home for 2 days sleeping off a monster hangover!!! That rule needs looked into at the next council meeting. I'm sure its not hard to see my point, either.!!
Well next year a driver finishing that low will be docked even more with the new scoring system. We could look into penalyzing drivers more for not making the field.
Looking over the new scoring system, I think there is a change that I'd like to make with penalty points.... just to refresh everyone, here it is again:
I think it might be best to change the 26th -34th points from -5 to -2 points and changing the 35th-43rd from -10 to -5 points.
Then we could dock each driver that did not make the race by 10 points. This would be a harsher penalty for those taking risks with those drivers. Plus it woldn't hurt quite as bad for those drivers finishing in the back of the field.
I think we need to think about that. The whole system is stacked against any cars outside of the 35. Just a guess but with the amount of money invested by the Toy cars and the poor qualifying you might just see a change next year. Just a hunch but time will tell.
I do like this proposed change, but maybe we should wait and see what Nascar does with who is locked in...........they have said they are going to address it in the offseason......rumor is that they will increase the number to 40 locked in.
