For starters, no driver can easily walk away with the championship in the chase. Kurt Busch looked like he could do no wrong, than bam... engine blows early in the race.
Things looked good for Dale Jr. Gordon was struggling with mechancial issues, Kurt Busch was out of the race, Jr. could walk away with the lead if he finished 3rd or higher. He had a good car all race long, but one wrong move, bam... he was in the wall after contact by Carl Edwards. The result is a 33rd place finish for the second week in a row. He gained a little ground up on Kurt Busch, but oh what could have been.
Up until the Lowe's race, Johnson looked to be completely out of it, but a string of three wins by Johnson, combined with some bad luck by Kurt Busch and Johnson is now in second place, only 59 points out.
As for me, I was for sure I'd finish second or third in the league, but after my worst run of the season this week, combined with another bad run at Kansas, I'm now sitting in 5th place. Well, there's three races to go. Anything can happen. Personally I'd be happy with a top 5. I'm more concerned with actually running the league than my own personal finish. Besides, I'd rather someone other than myself win the first championship anyway.
