Hendrick Motorsports officials have scheduled a press conference for Wednesday, Sept. 19, to officially announce Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s car number and primary sponsorship package for the 2008 season.
The press conference, which is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. ET, will take place in the Dallas Convention Center. Coincidentally, PepsiCo Inc. officials are in town next week as they are having their annual meetings in Dallas.
It is expected that Amp energy drink, an offshoot of PepsiCo product Mountain Dew, and National Guard will combine to sponsor NASCAR's most popular driver next season.
While the sponsor combination may be known, there is still speculation surrounding what number Earnhardt Jr. will drive next season since he will be unable to take his No. 8 with him to his new team after his current organization, Dale Earnhardt Inc., prevented such a move. Nonetheless, both Earnhardt Jr. and team owner Rick Hendrick have said that they expect the number 8 to be involved in some fashion, with the latest speculation pointing towards the No. 88 which is currently used by Robert Yates Racing.
Now we can finally end all the speculation and get answers.
I'm guessing that it will since all the other Jr. press conferences have been televised. Most likely it will be SPEED, but I haven't seen anything just yet.
I am just glad the horror story we have all been reading since May 10th will finally come an end on the 19th of Sept. I have to say........I WILL NEVER FORGET THE 2007 NASCAR SEASON! It has been on hell of a year!
I have already set my tv. I work nights so, I am going to set my alarm to get up just to watch it. I did the same thing when he anounnced he was leaving DEI. How soon do you think we can start ordering new stuff? And I know you can pre order it on Jr Nation, but I want to see it before I get it........lol. Do you think the "T shirt making people" will get a sneek peek and get a head start on making all the stuff.......lmao.
