Okay, so baseball is over in Atlanta and New York, (whoops, forgot the Yanks did their part).......anyway, the Mets and Braves are both watching the playoffs from their couches.
So my question to all of you is, which is more disappointing and saddening?
On one hand, you have the Mets blowing a double digit lead in games with only a month left and then not even making the playoffs.
And on the other, you have perennial favorites like the Braves who started out so strong at the beginning of the year not even show up for the race down the stretch when it had seemed they addressed all of their issues from last year. (although, I still think they screwed their season when they let Wickman go)
Well, since I don't consider the Braves perennial favorites, I have to go with the Mets of course. The worst collapse in MLB history.... 2 weeks ago they had a 7 game lead in the NL East, then the bottom just fell out.
Still they had a shot at the very end.... killed the Marlins on Saturday to put their destiny back in their own hands on Sunday. What happens? Choke city.... Tom Glavine gives up 7 runs in just 1/3 of the first inning... What??? From there, the Mets were never able to come back. I know there are many people to blame over there for what happened, but please take Glavine back to Atlanta already, he's worn out his welcome here.
What's worse, I now live in Philly country so I have to listen to all the Philly fans so ecstatic that they are finally in the playoffs for the first time in 14 years. Oh well, when they get swept in the first round, that will end that excitement pretty quick. Oh well.. at least the Giants beat the Eagles.
not a perrennial contender huh? how quickly we forget 14 consecutive years winning the division........in two different divisions no less! (early nineties, dodgers were a team to look out for)
I am personally rooting for the Phillies...dont know why, I just like the team makeup.
I've got to say I'm glad the Mets didn't make it, but I'm sorry for you Lou. Man what a collapse. Thats gotta leave a mark. I said from the beginning of the season the Phils would take it. ( never thought they would, 8 games down with 17 to go)

In perspective though, the Metropolotins (hahaha still the worst team name in history of any sport) lost to a team being crushed by the Rockies. What a flipped out season.

Of course they finished closer to the Phillies than the Braves did.
The Braves don't have Delgado, Beltran, Wright and Reyes though. With that offense, how do you lose? The losing started when Pedro returned. Any chance that's just a coincidence?
