Idea for the Bud Shootout next year

I've been thinking of a way to make the Bud Shootout a little more meaningful in Lucky Dog Racing rather than just a meaningless exhibition race. Since the Bud Shootout is only for pole winners in NASCAR, I was thinking of doing it the same way here. We don't have polewinners of course, but what if we had it open just to the members that picked the league average for polesitters or higher?

Last season the league average was 6 polesitters picked. If we had done it this year, everyone who picked at least 6 polesitters would be in the race. We could also award some kind of prize as well. We should probably get around half the players in the league making the race each year.

Let me know what you think.... I don't think we should use it this year but it would be a great incentive for 2009.

I like it. I don't know how much incentive that would be in my picks but I like the idea.

You'll get more wins this year since you're with a high caliber team :)

Just and idea from the FASCAR world and that is for less work on your part Lou. Do the Budweiser Shootout like the FASCAR does it. The winner's from the 2008 LDR Cup Series would get in and then of course you could put the past winner's in it to. Thanks for your time

How about ....

the Top Ten in Poles Picked Average from previous year
Past Winners of the Shootout
Past Champions of the Cup Series
Driver with the most wins from previous year

and maybe the Rookie of the Year from the previous year as well.

Just my thoughts.

Wendal, we do that with the All-Star race.... that would pretty much be the same thing.

Matt, thats one thing to consider, but a lot of people tie in poles and all the extra factors could be a little overkill, but we could think about it.

Anyone else have any ideas?

It should definitely be involving picking polesitters since thats what the Bud Shootout is based on.

We can do the polesitter average for the year, picking the average or above...

or the top 10... 15 or 20 members that pick the most polesitters.

This would also give a little more incentive for trying to pick polesitters throughout the year besides the 5 points each race..... although thats nice too!

I think that's the best possibility to come up with (probably top 15 or 20)...as long as everyone makes thier league payments on time lol

yeah, well that's why I set a deadline for Feb. 1st for league payments. Gives me a little bit of time to make any changes to the field before the start of the season.

The way things are going this year, there could be a change or two, who knows.

I have another idea...(not sure how good it is though)......

maybe pre-determine ten races or so that if you pick the pole winner that particular week that you are automatically entered into the Shootout for next year.

or another idea......

if you pick five pole winners during the year, you are automatically entered into the shootout.

just throwing more suggestions out there.

Picking at least 5 poles plus past Bud Shootout winners might not be a bad way to go.
