but I didn't really care for all the lobbying and good wishes and blocking that was going on for Dale Jarrett to 'race' his way into the 500.
yes, he may be the feel good story since this will be his last one, but he hasn't even contended for a race in forever and he is only running five races...(the ones he is assured of getting in with the champ prov.). All that is well and good, but was everyone forgetting Ken Schrader????
This may very well be his last one as well (there have been hints to this fact all offseason). Ken Schrader has done just as much for the sport in my opinion.
For that matter, none of the lobbying and etc. was going on for Bill Elliott .....not for him mind you but for the fact that the famous #21 Woods Bros. team will not be racing in the 500.
Well I was happy to see DJ make one final Daytona 500 start. He's only running in the first 5 races this season, it would be a shame if it wasn't the Daytona 500. There's no reason to think Schrader won't be there next year... he'll probably race until he's 80. I wouldn't be surprised to see Elliott there too, but its a shame that the Wood Brothers won't be in the Daytona 500 in 40 something years.
It was nice to see Kenny Wallace make the race but I would have liked to see Boris Said there as well.
Michaels helping DJ and then blocking kinda reminded me of the 2001 Daytona 500. I agree it was wrong from a fans standpoint, but it is legal.

you may see it as that way, but I think its a little different scenario since this is to actually get in the race.
time trials use to mean something..........the Twin 125's use to mean something.....with the way its set up over the last few years, it just doesn't seem right at all.
I preferred when the top twenty cars or so from each race got to be in....I don't like the Top 35 rule at all.....never have.
I have no problem with getting the car in the race thats the team concept. But old DW just keeps on being the homer with Mikey this Mikey that. Get a gun and shoot the son of a bitch. the first week of the season and the coverage sucks already. Next they pull out the model and tell us how the cars work. They should be worried about keeping the people they have ! Well i feel better. Speedy write about the TV coverage. See if we can get you fired the second week buddy.
I was glad for DJ. Mikey was just doing what he had to do do help get all 3 into the 500. But I agree with DW. He can get VERY annoying at times. Espeically when talking about Mikey and Dale Jr.
And they should have turned his mic off after lap 1. We didn't need 3 laps of him yelling like little kid in the starters stand!!
