Feb 24, 2008:NASCAR made the decision at 2 a.m. (ET) -- After waiting nearly five hours for the track to dry, NASCAR officials decided to postpone the remaining 163 laps of the Sprint Cup Series Auto Club 500 until 1 p.m. (ET) on Monday.
Ok, so what the heck where the NASCAR official's thinking in this race -- Man, I truely feel for those race fans that where there at the race track -- waiting -- waiting & waiting some more.
I understand that it was on the west coast but, those NASCAR official's need to think about all of the other fans too. So, lets just think if the race would have gotten underway at 2 AM (EST) it would have probably gotten over around 4 AM or 5 AM (EST) -- man I would have hated to seen those TV rating (LoL)
I gave up at 12am and I almost decided to stay up until 1am too just in case they aired it on Speed or something. Glad I didn't!! Nascar should have called it off much much earlier.
I gave up a lot earlier than that and just watched the Academy Awards. So the race will be run at 1:00pm today... oh well, Guess I'll keep track of it online at work. By the time I get home, the Nationwide race SHOULD be getting underway.
I'll probably work on the Cup results tonight, but the Nationwide results won't be up until Tuesday evening probably.
Well came home early today to see the finish. Fox says their still going to air it here in Atlanta. We'll see. Suxs to be you this week eh Lou? Bummer. In responce to Wendal, can't tell you how many times I've waited for a race. The longest in memory is the final race of the season at Atlanta in 1998. We arrived at the track at 6:30am that day. Were leaving the track at 7:30 pm due to rain when over the scanner came the news....a restart in 30 minutes. We parked and watched Jeff Gordon claim his Championship later that night. It was the first (unoffical) "night" race at Atlanta. The light had been installed just months eariler. Nascar hardcore fans are used to this happening. It blows but it is what it is.

O I know that die-hardcore race fans will stay up until they get the word what is going to happen -- I was ready to give up at 9 PM (CST) -- I've been fighting a dang cold for about a week now. When I went to bed around 9:30 PM (CST) the NASCAR fan kicked in and said you cann't got to bed yet. So, I grab my pillow and headed down stairs to see what was going to happen. So, of course there was no word until 1 PM (CST) what was going to happen and as soon as I got the word -- man I went to bed and slept like a baby (LoL)
But, thank god for the DVD player -- LoL watched the Dale Movie again
