This is such great news, I heard about it this am and couldn't believe it. Congrat Danica.
Danica Patrick made history at Twin Ring Motegi after she became the first female to win an IndyCar Series race when she took the checkered flag, in her 50th series start, in the Indy Japan 300.
Danica Patrick talked to Roush Fenway recently: Officials from Roush Fenway Racing "had a conversation" with IndyCar driver Danica Patrick as recently as two weeks ago when the Sprint Cup Series was in Phoenix for the Subway Fresh Fit 500. And while Jack Roush, the founder and co-owner of the organization, said that he was not part of the conversation, he also said Friday from Talladega Superspeedway that he believes Patrick has an interest in eventually pursuing a future that would include at least some stock-car racing. He even offered to lay out a program for her indoctrination into NASCAR. "I think Danica, from what I understand, has got an interest in stock-car racing," Roush said. "Any sponsor, any team owner that felt the need to have more of a diverse situation in their driving lineup would look at Danica very favorably."
I think within the next couple of years we are going to see Danica in some sort of NASCAR ride. Even though some skeptics doubt her win because she got lucky in a few mileage race, she has already proven that she can run up front in any race. The next step, like so many of her other open wheel competitors would be to try out NASCAR. Unfortunately none of them have found the succcess so far that they've found in either Indy or F1.
I am one of the very few who actually think that she would fare better in Nascar than she has in IRL........her style of racing suits better in stock car even though she is an open wheel driver........think Robby Gordon for another example.
with that being said, she just went over to Andretti-Green, and now all of a sudden, she's talking to Roush? She's beginning to strike me as the one who is always looking over at the neighbor's yard and wanting something bigger and better.
