They used to take the checkered flag. Now these Sunday drivers are just taking up space.
10. Jeremy Mayfield Races without a win: 57 Once a two-time dark horse qualifier for the Chase, Mayfield fell so far in 2006 as to blame a girl for his midseason ouster from Evernham Motorsports. Shrewdly, he's begun preemptively thinking about who he'll blame this year. Early candidates: Gene Haas, Steve Bartman, and daylight saving time.
9. Mark Martin Races without a win: 69 The best driver never to win a Cup championship, who made his NASCAR debut three years before Aric Almirola was even born, has now been reduced to sharing the No. 8 car with him. Which is a pain when Aric wants to use the car and has to clean out all of the Werther's wrappers first.
8. Dale Jarrett Races without a win: 71 Since a victory at Talladega, Old Man Jarrett has spent three years holding up traffic with just three top 10 finishes. If not for his past champion's provisional exemption, Jarrett wouldn't have even qualified for seven of the 24 races he ran last year. Thankfully, he's retiring after the first five races of 2008.
7. Joe Nemechek Races without a win: 110 The man nicknamed "Front Row" Joe for his gift for taking the pole on qualifying day has spent the last several years smoking it on race day. He hasn't started in the top two since 2005, and at this point in his career, this habitual turn burglar is lucky to even make a race.
6. Elliott Sadler Races without a win: 123 Sadler dumped his scruffy goatee and bushy hair for a cleaner look this year. No reason you shouldn't look respectable when you're finishing 28th.
5. Michael Waltrip Races without a win: 131 Not only is Waltrip winless in four years, he's also shameless. Beside pimping himself to any sponsor with a PayPal account, Waltrip bought his spot in 2006's Coca-Cola 600 and used a jet fuel additive in the 2007 Daytona qualifying. We're not sure how Waltrip can shed more dignity this year, but if it'll help him bypass weight restrictions, he'll find a way.
4. Bobby Labonte Races without a win: 148 OK, this is the year that Petty Enterprises and former Cup champion Bobby Labonte make their big respective comebacks. Along with the U.S. steel industry, disco, the state of Wyoming, and everything else the American public left for dead 30 years ago.
3. Robby Gordon Races without a win: 155 Never much of a threat to win outside a road course, Gordon once took solace in being the most hated and reckless driver in NASCAR. Now that Kurt Busch has lapped him there, too, Robby's been reduced to carjacking Canadian Busch races. Come on, Robby, put a helmet on somebody!
2. Dave Blaney Races without a win: 273 Imagine waiting tables at Bennigan's for 11 years and never once selling a patron on the Brownie Bottom Pie. Now you're livin' la vida Blaney who, unlike everyone else on this list, hasn't won a single Cup race his entire career. But he hasn't gone nearly as long without a win as one of racing's biggest names...
1. Kyle Petty Races without a win: 395 Avoids Victory Lane like it was Compton after dark. Since winning at Dover in 1995, he's only finished in the top five twice, and has led only 87 laps in the last four presidential elections. Is it too late for Richard Petty to have Kyle aborted?
Forgot about Kenny Schrader. He drives part time now, but has not won since 1991
