Thanks Troy, Its been awhile since someone got a good debate going in here.
Being a Dale fan I would have to say, after we print these accomplisments and compare them I will go to sleep that night just as easy as I did the night before. I dont pull for a driver because I think he is going to pile up pages and pages of stats. I was a DW fan for 15 years and when he retired I didn't carry his print out around saying look what my driver did, I needed a new one. I didn't want to jump on the Gordon wagon because he had already won everything, so I went with Dale he was just starting and hadn't won anything. I have seen him change over the years for the better, This year he looks like a point contender more then he ever has. If he never wins a race again I will still pull for him till he retires because thats the way it should be. When he takes the lead I will stand and cheer, When he gets crashed I will stand and cuss the driver that did it, When someone talks trash about him then I will defend him, because hes my driver and Im not going to bale on him just because his print out doesn't match up to Jeff Gordons or Richard Pettys or Dale Earnhardts. So you keep those print outs close so you can look at them every now and then to remind you how good Jeff Gordon was, Mean while Im going to enjoy watching my driver race each week.
for me, I pick a driver that most reminds me of who I am or at least who I want to be.
when I was introduced to Nascar, it was Dale Sr. His reckless attitude towards winning was pretty much how I felt about life in general being a snot nosed teenager who thought the world owed me something.
years later after many travels in my own right, I looked at Dale Jr. because of name and then noticed this man who bears so much because of his name and now carries on to his own beat and drummer. That is very much me right now.....I have growned and realized mistakes from the past but I also realize that all the good things and bad things make up who I am today.
again, I like Kyle and the ol' Silver Fox and Bobby Labonte.......all for different reasons, but all have something to do with me personally.
It's always nice to brag about what your guy as done, but you identify with him on a completely different level.
Well Troy and Nathan both have points. I also was a Waltrip fan. Funny guy great race car driver. I think its to early to say anything about Jr. just yet. I will say this though, Jr was out of line when he said "That boys gonna need security to get out of here". Very unprofessional. Tinys dad got wrecked several times (go figure) and always smiled it off and never made a comment like that. Of course Tiny doesn't drive like his "daddy" did, but be a man about it. Thats the difference between them. Sr. would keep his blow hole shut and deal with it on the track later. Well we saw and heard how jr handled it. Mears does suck and tiny will be fine and Gordon will always have better stats. That being said turn the page.

I liked the comment they made on the telecast Saturday night.
Jr. was asked about how Kyle's driving compared to Sr.'s driving........and he of course replied that they are very similar and the talent level is high with both..........
so another reporter asked Dale if he thought Kyle and Dale Sr. were alike personally as well, and Jr. just told them all to not even go there.........he told them that his dad was a great man as well as an icon and more important he was a classy leader in the garage and that alot of Kyle's antics would never have come from Dale Sr.
I thought that said as much for the son as well as the father.
Kyle is my second favorite driver because of his talent, but Dale Jr. will always be the best for the way he carries himself in life. You try putting yourself in his shoes and walk a mile in them......see where you come out at.
