Earlier today I received a phone-call from Wendal Ebach from FASCAR. He wanted to talk to me about Karen Smith. I had a strange feeling I knew what it was about it as I have been expecting it for a little while now.
Karens brother called Wendal this morning and told him the news. Regrettably, Karen lost her battle with cancer and has passed away.
Karen informed us of her condition a couple of months ago and it looked grave. We held hope out that she could somehow recover but the good Lord decided it was her time.
Most of us did not know Karen personally, but we knew of her accomplishments in fantasy racing. Here at Lucky Dog Racing, she had a total of 6 wins across the Cup, Nationwide and Truck series. She had an impressive season last year at FASCAR and made their LROC team as well.
If you are interested, here is a brief obituary in the Dickson, Tennessee Herald. There may be a larger one tomorrow or sometime this week.
I also obtained her address so if you would like, please email me if you would like to send her family a sympathy card or anything else.
She was 48 years old and taken way too soon from us. We will all miss Karen and send our thoughts and prayers to her family.
I have decided that this weekend will be the last time that Karen or rather Karens spirit will race with us. All four races will be dedicated to her. Please take time to give her a silent tribute before the start of each race.
She may have left us but she will not be forgotten.
Thank you for being part of our NASCAR community Karen, you will be missed.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Smith family and friends. Karen as I knew her was a fierce competitor in the NASCAR Leagues I participated in with her. She will be dearly missed.

I want to add something that my Mom wrote in the FASCAR Forum because I really think that its so true about life.
My thoughts and prayers go to Karen's family at this time, I know we all were praying that things would turn out different ,but one never knows what is in store for us in the race of our lives. We can be running in front and the next thing you know we are out of the running not always by our choice. Karen fought a good race and will always be remebered for her fantastic way of playing in the fantasy leagues. I did not know her either but feel the lose just the same. Now she will be watching us and shaking her head at our choices every week and thinking "What were they thinking". God Bless all of Karen's family. Linda
