Starting for the Daytona 500, we will be using a new strategy option called the Superstar driver. This option was created by the President and voted on through the council. It was also decided that this option would replace the bonus driver. Since half the field are new teams, we felt that many people would get confused between the two, so we dropped the bonus driver because we feel this is a better option. Perhaps the bonus driver could be implemented next year, it hasn't been decided yet. The bonus driver picks for the Bud Shootout will remain in effect though. Anyway, here is the superstar driver explained:
The Superstar Driver
Each week you have the option of designating one of your 5 drivers as a superstar. The Superstar driver will receive double the points that a normal driver gets. The penalty points will be the same. The trick is that you can only designate a driver a superstar once during the whole year. You must use strategy to determine what race you'll want to use a particular driver. Once you designate someone as the superstar of the race, you will be unable to designate him the rest of year, however you can still pick him as one of your normal picks. It is up to you to keep track of the drivers you choose per year. Your drivers will appear on your driver picks stat sheet that you can access either through your team page or from the standings page. If you pick someone that you've already chosen, I will not e-mail you, I will just declare it as a normal pick. The superstar driver is optional. You can have it some weeks, and skip other weeks. The choice is yours.
The driver picks stats sheets for each team will appear after the first race of the season. An e-mail will also be going out to everyone today. This new announcement will also appear on the main page, and it has been changed in the rules section. If anyone has any questions regarding this new option, feel free to post here, and either me or one of the other council members will answer. thanks!
