Final '08 Commissioner's Note

First of all, thank you to all of you for a great year in our first season of fantasy baseball here in LuckyDog's Pine-Tar.
Keepers do not need to be decided on right now.....we will save that action until right before next year's draft just in case a player gets injured in the offseason (i.e.- Big Ben on his motorcycle a few years ago - sorry Nathan).
Our next course will be to decide whether the 3 Replacement Teams will be at the bottom of the draft order in positions 10,11,12 or will they be slotted in the spot that they currently hold - 2,3,5. This won't affect my spot that much so I probably will put it to a vote between the Eight of you and only vote unless its a tie.
One thing is for sure, Nathan will definately have first pick of the draft after each team picks their two keepers from their '08 roster.

FINAL STANDINGS                                       '09 DRAFT POSITION
1- RTI Braves                                                         12
2- Lefflerfan                                                            11
3- Black + Gold Yatesfan                                          10
4- Marlton Intimidators                                              9
5- J-Rod's Nine                                                        8
6- Rednex Relievers                                                  7
7- Indiana Underdogs                                               6
8- GHOST TEAM                                                       5
9- Baker Boys                                                          4
10- GHOST TEAM                                                     3
11- GHOST TEAM                                                     2
12- Helton Pirates RTI                                              1

Also, I thought it would be interesting to see how many players each of us still have from our original team that we drafted at the beginning of the year.

RTI Braves                        8
Lefflerfan                           3
Black + Gold YatesFan        5
Marlton Intimidators           4
J-Rod's Nine                      3
Rednex Relievers               5
Indiana Underdogs             0
Baker Boys                       2
Helton Pirates RTI              5

Not surprisingly, the Underdogs don't have any original members with the way he loved to use the waiver wire and trades, but J-Rod had 2 more transactions and kept 3 originals.
Marlton was the only team in the league who still has his first three draft picks still on his roster as well as his very first draft pick being one of his Keepers for next year.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, I did not draft either one of my Keepers for next year.

Once again, Thank you to all of you who made this first year a great success! See you next season!

Thanks Matt, it was a great year in the Pine Tar..... this league was a lot of fun and should be even stronger with some good quality replacements for those three teams.

I had a lot of fun during the season even if I bombed in the playoffs big time. I'll avenge that next year!!

Once again, Congrats on your title..... once again you'll be the target of everyone next year.

Well on to football, hockey and I'm even trying basketball this year.

Nice stats there Matt. I'm surprised I finished with that many drafted players!

As for the replacement teams, I think they should inherit the draft position based off last years finish, as long as they get to protect 2 players from the teams they inherit.

Yeah, I used way too many waiver moves this year. Made some decent trades, but I learned a bunch and had a whole lot of fun.

Looking forward to next season. Congrats on the title...

Gary

why not do a lottery for those three teams?  Assign random numbers to the 12 different draft spots and whichever number they pick, thats the spot they get.  Maybe share those numbers with a couple of others in the league though.

i kinda like the lottery idea as long as it doesnt mess with everyone elses draft order . Helton and i didnt race to the bottom of the standings for nothing . lmao . if we stay in same order a lottery makes a lot of sense . again just my two cents

I wouldn't want to do a lottery for two reasons.
One as you touched on, I would not want anyone thinking that something was up or a little fishy. Whereas you guys might trust my actions, that might not be the case for the three new members.
Two, I like the idea of having a little consistency in the league and keeping it going in one direction. As Leon said, he and Nathan struggled mightily this year and they should get a little something extra to boost their team much like the real sports leagues do across the board.

I guess we could do a lottery just amongst those three teams in those three spots whether they be near the front or the back of the draft. Either way, each one of you will be drafting according to your position at the end of the year. Meaning, Nathan is assured to go first, and I am assured to go last amongst us.

The question that needs to be answered is do the new guys draft 2,3, and 5? or 10, 11, and 12?

I'd say 2,3,5 mostly because their choice of keepers is very limited.

RE: Final '08 Commissioner's Note

Marty's vote - 10,11,12
Gary's vote - 2,3,5
Nathan's vote - 10,11,12

LOL, we are now deadlocked at 3 - 3, with only R.J. and Randy still needing to submit their vote.
Please vote ASAP so that we can lock this referendum up so each perspective team knows what they are getting into before signing on.
