Changes for next season

These are some of the changes that we will be seeing next season. Some still need to have an official vote by the council and will be done so during the off-season.

Cup Series Promotions:
We will still keep the same system that we have, determining who gets the next call-up to the Cup series. During the season if an opening comes up, we will take the highest member in the Nationwide top 10 first. However, that member can not be a rookie. A member must participate in the Nationwide series for at least a year before they can be called up (35 races).
If a member starts mid-season, they must wait until they complete the remainder of the races the following year before they are elligible.
If an opening comes up during the first 5 races of the new season, we will go by the final standings of the previous season first. After 5 races, we will use current points.
If there are no elligible members within the top 10, we will go to the first person on the waiting list.

Nationwide Promotions:
A member does not need to have raced in a full season of the Truck series before they get to the Nationwide series, however we use the same format. If an opening comes up in the Nationwide series, we will take take the first person in the top 10 in the Truck series. If there is nobody in the top 10, we go to the waiting list.
Also, each year we will add 2 additional slots to the Nationwide series until we hit a maximum of 54, 6 years from now. Next year we will have 45 members in the Nationwide series. At the end of the year, the highest 2 members in the standings who wish to play in the Nationwide series will be called up, no matter where they finished. One the two members are chosen, we will begin to select other members for any additional spots that open up.

Qualifying Rainouts:
This year if there was a rainout for qualifying and you chose a driver that did not get into the field, the 10 point penalty was waived. Next year, the 10 point penalty will be in effect for all races, regardless if it is a rainout or not. Also, that driver will chose as finishing in 44th place on your driver stat page, so it will affect your picks average as well.

Truck Series groups:
This hasn't been discussed yet, but with the removal of Dodge from the Truck series, it will affect our groups. There will only be 3 manufacters in the series, so I think the best way to handle this would be to have 6 groups.... The top five of the three manufacters, and the rest in three separate groups. I think we might look into not being able to choose from a particular group that your segment driver is in. Otherwise, we'd have 7 drivers in our lineup each week.

We will also look into making some changes to the team bonus scores for the Cup series.  The multi-car teams will remain just in the Cup series as well.

Although these haven't officially been finalized yet, I just wanted to inform the league so there are no surprises when the new season begins.

If there are any other other issues that you think we need to look at during the off-season, please bring it up and the council will discuss it during the off-season.

We prefer to make most changes during the off-season so make sure you don't wait until the new season begins.
