2009 Streak To The Finish

As it was discussed last season, this year we will be having a streak to the finish game in the Cup, Nationwide and Truck series.  You will be picking drivers every week if there is a Cup, Nationwide or Truck race. Since there is at least one race each weekend for the entire season, you will be picking at least one driver every week, sometimes 2 or 3 depending on how many races will be running that weekend.

You will be carrying 3 streaks at once but you'll be able to follow each one. The points from all your drivers and all your streak points will be your total score for the week.

As you can expect, it will be a little bit more to do each week and there will be more information to track. I will have separate documents for your picks, one that shows the total points for each week during the season and one for the overall standings.

Here's an example of what the results will look like:

It's good for those that like to watch all three series, but if you just limit yourself to the Cup series, I guess not.

Yea its mainly the Trucks. I never could get any interest in them. They belong at the Baja and such not going in circles.

You really should watch the Truck series. I think the Truck series offers the best racing in NASCAR most of the times. It's still the most pure form of racing left in NASCAR. Ask most of the people who watch the Trucks if they've seen some great races there.

I am a little confused.

Driver pts. + Streak pts. + Streak pts (again?) = Total pts.????

Yes, driver points are from 1 to 10, depending on where your driver finishes that week. 1st is10 points... 10th is 1 point.

Streak points are the points for each week of your streak.  each week is 5 points. So if it's your 2nd week, you get 10 points.

Add the two together and that's the points in each series.

If you have a 2 week Cup streak going and your pick finishes in 2nd place, 9 points + 10 points= 19 points.

Then you add the Nationwide and Truck points together as well if you continue streaks there.

sorry, but I'm more confused now........judging by your example above....I originally thought the total pts. would be 50 pts. but from your explanation, I get a different total altogether.

again, judging on the above example......

his Cup entry won the race and extended his streak to two weeks - 10+10= 20.

his Nationwide entry came in 5th and was the first week of his current streak - 6+5= 11.

his Trucks entry came in 4th and was his second week on current streak - 7+10= 17

20 (cup) + 11 (nationwide) + 17 (trucks) = 48 pts for the week.

What am I missing here?

You're right, 48 points is correct. I had a mistake on my excel sheet. I wanted to add two cells together but my mistake added a range of cells. I'll fix that at the start of the season.
